Starting O-Line Sunday?

I think the long term key is really Christensen.  If he can become even a league average LT (not outstanding, just OK) then we could have something to build on.

That's especially true if Michael Jordan continues to play well.  Last game he was a PFF 75 score, which is really good.  He could be the answer at our LG spot.

With the first round draft pick the Panthers could select either a LT (if available) or the best interior lineman in the draft (C or G) who would be an instant starter.

All of that could be enough to get some decent OL play for next season.

But Christensen needs the reps now so he can make his mistakes and learn from them this year.  The second half of the season is crucial for his development.

That's what no one is talking about.  Everyone is treating Cam as the savior that's going to rescue our season and everything is going to be awesome, and I certain hope that's the case and I'll be pulling hard for Cam.

That said, he may get behind center and he gets blown up and end up running for his life and it turns into a poo show.  He's obviously more mobile than Sam but it's going to be interesting how this turns out....

It will be interesting all right.  We have the same team except for one position. A worse o line than last week, same sorry ass OC, half ass special teams, and limp dick Rhule heading it up.  I don't see Cam in his prime doing much to change the season for this bunch of losers,  let alone Cam as he is now.

When Mike White for the Jets had his big passing day recently (405 yards) he got rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds on average.  So even behind the New York's suspect Oline (which is as putrid as ours) White had few to no problems with their protections.

Mike White article

That's Sams biggest issue and part of the reason for the drops. Waits too long til a guy is obviously open, then has to throw a dart that's like 1-2 feet off target. Defenses straight making fun of us on the field

    • CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales said Friday that starters will play in the first two preseason games, stopping just short of admitting he made a mistake last season holding them out. The plan includes playing quarterback Bryce Young, who got off to a historically bad start to the 2024 regular season that got him benched after opening 0-2. Carolina opens their preseason schedule Friday at home against Cleveland, followed by an August 15 road game at Houston and August 21 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.   Canales said he will evaluate after the first two games whether starters will play in the third game. "Kind of going through it last year, we had a mix of veteran players, but [this is] predominantly a pretty young team,'' said Canales, who has at least six new starters to the defense that was the worst in the league a year ago. "I just can't pass up the opportunities. The reps in games are valuable. "[But] it goes to the night before, when guys know they're going to go out there, they've got to make a decision to play football. So it starts the night before with the prep. You start thinking about your plan, taking care of your body, making sure you get your rest.''   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45880676/panthers-starters-play-first-2-preseason-games-says-coach
    • You call the Cowboys purely for information, but we don't have the assets to pull off any realistic trade. Also, even if they would consider any trade, it's more likely they want to do it with an AFC team.
