He could still be the starter to open up next season if Cam doesn't finish up strong this year. Or if we draft a rookie QB and they get hurt then Darnold will most likely be next man up.

Not a chance in hell that Darnold is on this team next year or takes another snap in a panthers uniform.

He's guaranteed 18M next season and seems like a good guy in the locker room. He's a terrible starter but I don't see what would be wrong with having him as a back up. Especially when he is getting that money either way.

I doubt it's a popular opinion, but I'd like to see Sam spend a year or two on the bench in the backup role while Cam uses up what he's got left in the tank, then start around 2024.

I think we are seeing Cams tank is pretty much on empty.  😳

Watching the game today made me think it isn't Teddy, Sam, Cam or PJs fault. Has it ever occurred to anyone that Sam Darnold is missing Adam Gase about now?

Yeah exactly. We bought Sam in here with the attitude that Rhule is just a quarterback aficionado and if he can't fix him then he's damaged goods. So far Rhule hasn't fixed anything. Maybe Sam isn't fixable but if he is maybe Rhule can't do it any better than Gase.

I think what we saw today showed what many have been saying all along in that it’s impossible for a QB to achieve sustained success with this team as someone will always drop the ball. Maybe we will be a little more objective after today. But knowing this place, probably not.

    • I feel like it's impossible not to like and root for this guy. Seems like a fantastic teammate to have around too. Hopefully he and TMac will be having a good time motivating one another to up their respective game.
    • The NFL didn't force him to go do it, so while he partnered with the league on it, yes, he was there on his own accord. And again, I'm not saying it's a problem for him to be there, but in retrospect, if he doesn't show improvement this year, things like this would be a bad look to do this while the rest of the team is in Charlotte the past few days. I have no problem with players building their own brand off the field, but given how visible he's been this offseason doing random/weird stuff, he better back it up with improved play, that's all.
