In your Opinion-what caused the wheels to fall off? (3-0 and hard fight against Dallas to one of Leagues worst)

Would things have been different if our offensive line was worth a damn ? I mean we started 3-0, fought like hell and almost came back on Dallas, Darnold looked like the answer(had multiple 300 yard games and several rushing TDs) Defense was beasting and top 5, everyone was talking about DJax getting paid big, everyone including the National Media was onboard the bandwagon. Then all hell broke loose-and the the wheels fell off-all 4 at once. Same players minus C-Mac. WTF happened is there any of that 3-0 team fight against Dallas left on this team? Could it all have been different with an O-Line?

Momentum, confidence, and poor coaching.   Against Dallas the team thought they were the better team although the garbage time "comeback" was just fantasy.  Thinking they were the better team they played hard.

 

Then the wheels falling off comes down to just plain character of the players and poor overall coaching.   Management has a role to play in both the above.   GM and ownership.

the answer is obvious.  You cannot play college ball in the NFL.  Teams figured that poo out real quick and that was that.

Exactly the same as it was last year. A few new wrinkles that took teams by surprise until there was sufficient film, and even then the team was getting figured out in the second half of games early in the season. Once there was film actual NFL coaches could gameplan appropriately and Carolina's poor coaching, coupled with terrible OL and QB play, aren't good enough to overcome.

It's the same reason that Carolina's offense typically moves the ball the first drive or two in a game and then just gets shut down.

Those First 3 wins were very misleading. We played the Jets with a Rookie QB. NO without its coaching staff because of COVID and Jameis as the QB and then the Texans with Davis Mills another Rookie getting the start after an injury to Tyrod T.

Following those wins we were overconfident. The CMAC injury and poor offensive line play ruined the offense. Defenses figured out they could get Free Runners by a simple blitz or Stunt- Darnold regressed as he starting seeing Ghosts again. DBs jumped obvious short routes that everyone knew had to be coming--These problems started early in the year and our coaches have had no answers. I mean they know what other teams are doing to us...but can't adjust to put the players we have in a better position to succeed, especially when it comes to pass protection.

Teams figured us out early on and our coaching staff still doesn't know how to make adjustments in game!

Philly game was a slow death and it somehow got progressively worse the next 3-4 weeks.

I was worried after the 1st game but tried to stay positive.  The Jets game was much closer than it should have been.  Unfortunately, it was a sign of things to come.

The same thing that caused us to play our best football early last year. The more film you get on us, the worse we are because we have a limited (college) coaching staff. Once there's ample film out there on us we're hamstrung. The same thing at QB. The more film there is on a QB within a system the harder it gets. When you're limited at QB it's gonna be hard to keep things rolling. It's why lots of backup QBs can look good for short periods but then fall off hard if they're asked to play several games.

It was a combination of factors.  I do think the injuries to CMC and Horne hurt us.  We then brought in Henderson for Arnold.  Arnold wasn't exactly Greg Olsen, but he was a solid outlet.    And Henderson wasn't anywhere close to Horne, so all in all, the trade was of little benefit for us this season.  

But the bigger factors poor offensive line play, and poor qb play even when he did get time.  Personally, I think Darnold made some wtf throws even in the first three games, he just got lucky.  And the coaching staff appears to be incapable of any kind of adjustments.  Even last year, we tended to struggle late in the game, and this year, it just go worse.  The staff's in game coaching is just not good.  And never has been.

I don't really think it was the cowboys so much as it was the Eagles. The panthers offense was still moving the ball against the Cowboys, and were probably going to be up at least 14-6 at half if not for a series of mind numbing calls. It was also before teams realized Diggs was going to jump on every single route. 

The Panthers beat the poo out of eagles for 3.5 quarters and just couldn't put them away. Unthinkable loss. Maybe the eagles saw what happened with the cowboys, but that was the game where it was obvious this poo was fuged. 

But yeah, once the oline concerns and scheme concerns and QB concerns all hit at once, they started making one another worse and created a death spiral.

It's painful for people to admit that if Sam doesn't throw to Darius Slay, we stop Minnesota once, and we don't have a pick 6 against NE this would be a 8-9 team. Tampa killed us yeah cool they are super bowl caliber same for buffalo.

We aren't great but we aren't Jacksonville or Detroit dreadful roster wise.

Darnold, Rhule's inability to adapt, inexperienced coaches, and game day roster (mis)management. Injuries also, but everyone deals with injuries.
