Our future QB?

So if we sign Jay Gruden I think it’s obvious who our QB will be and here’s why

1. Carolina wants a vet QB

2. Carolina signs Jay Gruden as OC

3. panthers sign Andy Dalton, a vet QB who has a history with Jay Gruden(2011-2013)

Sadly I think this is more realistic than the panthers signing/trading/drafting a top QB.

while it’s not what we want I would rather have him than PJ Walker, he would probably be a good vet to go with Darnold and he knows Jay Grudens system. He probably won’t cost a lot of money either.

Honestly he may be a upgrade over who we had this year.

Honestly I would just stick with Darnold if he was between Dalton and Cousins!! Cuz they are not much better!! Cousins likes to piss in your cereal when things get good.. Dalton is a good backup

If anything I would go after Minshew!! He reminds me of Jake Delhomme!! I think he would bring energy to the team and play good enough to keep the offense in the game.. He has that moment to drop the ball in there!! Just think he would be a better gamble then of all these retread QBs

Cam > Minshew

God. The fact that some people really think Minshew or Mariota or Darnold etc. is a better option than Cam is frightening. Too much soda, killing off those brain cells.

I am not saying that we should get Cousins, but Cousins is significantly better than Darnold.  Darnold throws a lot more interceptions per passing attempt, fumbles a little more, and just makes some baffling decisions.  Cousins may not win many games, but he tends not to do stupid things to lose them.  Darnold has more interceptions than starts in three of his four seasons.

Irt Dalton, only as a backup.

Demonstrably false.  Laughably so in fact.

Over the last three years, here are their stats next to each other:

Cam - 361 / 583, 62% completion.  12 TD (2%), 16 INT (2.7%)

Minsh - 542 / 857, 63% completion.  41 TD (4.8%), 12 INT (1.4%)

More stats?  Sure.  Cam over the last three years is around 6 air yards per attempt.  TEDDY BRIDGEWATER is averaging 7.2 - Minshew the same.

Statistically, it's not even close.

When you go to league wide opinion, it's the same.  The Eagles traded a draft pick for Minshew while Cam Newton was sitting on his couch.

I'm not saying Minshew is the answer.  I'm not even really advocating we chase him.  But people who cannot see that Cam is beyond DONE aren't playing with a full deck.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
