Regarding the timing...

So yeah, he'd normally have been part of those conversations. They'll be going through a good chunk of the offseason with no one in that spot.

I'm not worried though because pretty sure Dan Morgan's "got dis".

To add to this I have heard Sam was well on the radar even before Scott Fitterer was here so that would add to this.

My worry here is whether this is a Matt Rhule move or Fitterer/Morgan. Rhule has final roster say and general team control, but I don't know if that extends to hiring and firing in the front office (which he technically could have if he has Tepper's ear).

If it is Rhule, expect the replacement to be someone loyal to him.

I would say he's just jumping ship. There is a very good chance a house cleaning happens this year after Rhule bombs again.
