Jeremiah: Panthers "dead set" on drafting an offensive lineman

Rhule already said that he didn't want Slater at 8 because there was speculation if he might be best at guard. He didn't want a guard at that high of a pick. This doesn't match with Daniel's report, which means to me that the Panthers are pulling a little trickery with the media.

Tricking the media seems to be a desire of Tepper since he's arrived. Not in a good way either, so much so he's looked like a douche.

Remember "We want to win a championship with Cam"? THAT was a lie. The media had info that he was trying to get rid of Cam almost on day one. Then, are you a doctor? Casting a bad light on Cams health before low balling him then cutting him abruptly with a year left on his contract.

Maybe people would stupidly accept the lack of integrity if he'd put us in a better position but he destroyed everything to absolutely no avail.

Smokescreens so far have been to the detrimental of this franchise, it's standing, it's reputation, and integrity.

My best advice to that man is, be a better man. Value your word and build integrity instead of your cutthroat stab you in the back culture you brought from Wall Street.

Your not going to win or lose any more by putting integrity and your best foot forward.

He needs to stop being an ass.

Two things that bother me...

First, they smokescreened interest in a quarterback last year. They could be doing something similar this year.

And second, that phrase "even if it's a reach" isn't something I like to hear.

The reach part could mean Linderbaum. Most don't think you should take a center top ten. And if they were to take him at 6, I'd be perfectly fine with it.

Here's part of the Jeremiah segment from the Eisen show:

This is not the part that mentions the Panthers, but it's about quarterbacks in general so it's interesting.

Regarding the Steelers interest in Willis, there's also this:

Previous scuttlebutt had the Steelers being interested in Sam Howell, but now it sounds like Malik Willis might be their guy.

Willis has a lot more upside than Howell and actually some elite attributes.

But...man is the bad stuff bad with him. His bad games are REALLY bad.

A center at #6 overall with your only top 100 pick... oh wee fuging mayne.

They are sooo backwards. At 6 you need a scorer.

If they can get 2 picks for that #6, THEN you can get the Olineman we desperately need.

Those top picks are reserved for those who can stop the score or score the ball.

It's like they need football for dummies.

Kinda doubt it.

A guy who needs a year or two (or more) to be ready to start doesn't help Matt Rhule right now.

Thought occurred to me too.

Trey Lance is a better prospect then Willis.   Trey Lance has way better coaches then us at the NFL level.  Trey Lance is still not ready to start in the NFL.

Its imperative we draft Charles Cross, Ikem or Neal at 6.  Whoever falls that far then fug it draft them and move forward

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
