I've been boycotting things I don't agree with for years. It doesn't mean much in the larger scheme of things but it let's me feel better about myself and what I care about. Damned if I'm going to sit around and Rah Rah for this. People are free to do what they want. Personally, I'm out.

If we all stopped watching sports because somebody did something wrong or really stopped doing anything when somebody did something wrong, we wouldn't be doing anything at all. There are always scumbags. You don't have to participate when one gets dropped on your doorstep.

But we live in a time where there is little room for such distinction. And the NFL in particular is a league that has had a lengthy list of abuse. If people have been watching all this time it is reasonable to point out the hypocrisy. It is a very American issue as we all have blinders on to a degree.

A preemptive TL;DR: if he doesn’t face criminal charges, my feeling is the Panthers will aggressively make a play for Watson, even if the civil complaints have not been fully resolved. We will get a better sense of all of this if he is cleared of criminal charges in the coming days. You’ll probably get some more substantial reporting/clarity on his wish list of teams. Carolina doesn’t seem to be out of play, but I’m not certain that will be his first choice.

Now, here’s a thread about it, I hope this offers some value:

That’s because when that happened Miami was in play and he wanted to go there. They’re out of the equation now.

As with anything, until we know the whole story, there are no real absolutes here. Those with whom I have spoken within that circle have consistently told me that the team has been steadfast in their Watson interest. I do think criminal charges would curb that pretty quick, and like I said earlier in the thread, I think that’s pretty much what it comes down to. I think that would be the only thing that would break their interest. They’ve taken their time, and David Tepper is not afraid to overextend for whatever he wants. Did the same thing with his current HC.

I'm just not sure at all how Carolina would both offer an "embarrassment of riches" for Watson AND convince him to come here. It would be his Texans' situation all over again - elite QB surrounded by straight trash. That's without even getting into the concerns about the staff and an owner who very well may be completely clueless on how to run a football organization. It's a lot of hurdles to overcome. 

At the end of the day, I suspect that much like the Lions likely did with Stafford, our offer will just be used to get better offers out of the actual contenders.

      Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.

      The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
