I really want to see the Saints offer??

What young players they have to give up to replace the fact they have later round picks.. And how many players they got to cut to get his contract in..

To fit him:

Extend Onyemata, Restructure Hill, Restructure Jenkins, Restructure Demario Davis, Cut Roby, Extend Davenport is how they get to ~$35M. The question is, what do they have left in terms of flexibility to build out their roster at that point? They will have restructured or cut about everyone they can possibly move around for this year. It's just not realistic to me. They'd have about 25 guys that you'd categorize as contributors and very little flexibility. Possible they could open up $20M by extending or restructuring Watson, but that same thing goes for anyone else who trades for him.  They'd definitely have to give up CGJ in that trade. Probably Payton Turner and another piece too. And it's still much weaker than Carolina's offer.

So you're willing to accept years of mediocrity just because you don't like the brass? Yeah don't let the door hit you on the way out. ✌️

Years?  Nah, just like 2 or 3.  I'll patiently wait a couple of seasons if things are done the correct way.  It will be worth it.

I appreciate the speculation and conversation, it’s part of what makes this time of year crazy fun. As long as were speculating, let me speculate on this: from talking to folks around Houston, McCaffrey is not viewed as a high priority from the Texans end. I’ve seen his name mentioned, and I understand why that correlation would be drawn. But he’s played in less than 30% of his games since signing that deal, and Caserio is much fonder of Carolina’s group of young players, particularly on defense, who would come in on rookie deals.

As far as Carolina being used as a leverage instrument: The goal with these trade talks between teams is not to screw over that other guy. It’s a constructive exercise, in which both parties look to build trust while negotiating mutually beneficial trade proposals. This is the business of the NFL, as one day down the road, you will likely be dealing with the same group of people again. Houston would not continue to engage with Carolina if they knew for a fact Watson would veto it.

Hence, arrangements are reportedly being made for Carolina to meet with Watson, presumably to assess his current frame of mind/interest in Carolina, while making DW a pitch in an effort to stay off the “no trade list.”

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
