It was the clear mishandling of Cam Newton and his career that would have lead to this.

Get a couple know it all's from Penn(lol) and their view of the world, that's what you get.

Had they just treated Cam right. Played him let him retire in peace, other QBs would see that.

These Penn know it all's know nothing about humans do they. Reputation matters. Integrity matters. Your word matters. How you treat people that are good to you and your organization matter.

It seemed they took pleasure back then in targeting Cam for a kick in the shtter when Cam was never the obstacle he was a solution or part of it.

They wanted to get rid of him to destroy whatever the Panthers were. They didn't have to "rebuild" anything, all they had to do was take the wheel and not crash the car, but that's exactly what they chose to do.

Stupid. Now DW4 made them look even more stupid and inept.

Well sometimes people need to be humbled. Hopefully this situation hurt and reality sinks in for Rhule and Tepper.

If I’m Tepper here is my thought process:

Rhule hasn’t been good. Let’s get him the QB he says he needs to see if that’s really the issue. Even if he still sucks then we know we have a proven commodity in DW or Stafford going forward. If he is good then we fixed the problem.

But as soon as we don’t land DW then my reaction would be to fire Rhule. Bc you know what you have without an elite QB. You have a bad team. Plenty of great QBs have made mediocre coaches look genius. That officially isn’t happening here so why waste another season? I sure as HELL wouldn’t let him bring in another QB this off-season and trade away a bunch of assets.

Orders for Fitt would be:

Build the team around the current QB so it’s strong. Then we can find a replacement QB and coach either this year or next.

Deshaun Watson

Russell Wilson

Matthew Stafford

All said hell so to coming to Carolina to play for Matt Rhule.

You hear that Tepper?

Three bottom 10 QBs refused to play for Matt Rhule too:  Cam Newton, Teddy Bridgewater, and Sam Darnold.   Be here all week.

I am starting to think this is a case of Tepper being too stubborn to admit Rhule was a mistake.

Possibly the only cogent/smart statement that dolt has ever made...

...but he's spot on 👍👊

I haven't seen one high IQ move out of this owner. He's buying up real estate and soccer but he's the worst thing to happen to the Panthers in franchise history.

He's put the franchise and fanbase into a nosedive Jets style. He sucks. No neuron activity as far as real football is concerned.

Watson is rich.  He can live whatever lifestyle he wants.  Where he plays a 17 game season doesn’t prohibit that.  Tons of guys don’t make their home in the city they play in.

I think it is naive to act like if Flores was the HC in Carolina vs Rhule that it wouldn’t matter to him.

again, Watson was even debating going to Cleveland

The Charlotte Observer's Jonathan Alexander believes franchise quarterbacks "have no interest" in signing with the Panthers.

Deshaun Watson this week became the latest high-end quarterback to turn down the Panthers after a full year of all-out recruitment by Panthers owner David Tepper and the QB-desperate organization. Russell Wilson, meanwhile, did not waive his no-trade clause to come to Carolina, instead choosing Denver. In 2021, Matthew Stafford shunned the Panthers in favor of the Rams. Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore haven't proven appealing enough for an elite QB to take a chance with the Panthers, and head coach Matt Rhule -- who will likely be gone after 2022 barring a drastic turnaround -- hasn't had any success in luring big-name signal callers. That leaves the team with the hideous prospect of starting Sam Darnold again in 2022 if they don't use their first-round pick (sixth overall) on a QB.

Short version, Rhule is toast either way. Darnold can't save him. None of these rookies coming out certainly can't starting day 1.  Unless he signs a FA to get him above .500 this season he's out.

Can you say backed into a corner?

...why would a athlete choose Charlotte over LA, Tampa, NYC, Atlanta, Denver or Miami?

Depending on the "athlete" and locale...

...schools, culture, climate, tax climate, organization, contract, etc...

Charlotte is a wonderful place to live, just look at all the pro athletes who make it their permanent home when they're done playing (or even off-seaon home)...3rd Leg, Smitty, Kalil, Wil Myers, Curry, Bogues, etc...

...mostly family oriented men.

Now if rolling with bangers & runnin' ho's is the lifestyle you're looking for, The CLT probably isn't a preferred destination 👍

PS...less than a handful of pro athletes actually live in "NYC" 🤦‍♂️

Here's one big thing...   Rhule is perceived by many, with good reason, to be a coach with one foot out the door.

He hasn't been winning. He hasn't exactly been successful building a winning team. He hasn't put together an offensive line that can protect a QB, not does he seem to know how to do it with his poor choices and constant shuffling around of pieces (and wanting pieces to shuffle around rather than let them play their one position). And his lack of experience in the pro league shows on several fronts.

He just isn't isn't that attractive an option for a franchise QB and coupled with the notion that he might get fired within a year...what's the point?

He's just not a good selling point.

If I’m Fitterer I am 100% not letting Rhule have a say in this draft.

He should be FIRED now. He can't win in this no win situation. He's a lame duck. When McAdoo stepped in the door he was a lame duck. Tepper IS the problem, this organization lacks leadership from the top.
