Well after these past few days we have a lot less holes than we did. Still need a LT, MLB and a QB. Maybe one more starting CB too. However these FA moves have given us a lot of flexibility in the draft. Fitty is a really good GM

Pass rush is a need too.  Like I said we just named 5 holes yet to be filled and they’ve already filled a few others.

The roster is not ready to support a rookie under center.

Wilson is expected to be the starting MLB, so that's filer already. Going after Armstead for LT and trying to get Gilmore to resign at cb.

Would go into the draft only needing depth and a qb best case.

If we sign him the OL is fixed.

Now what about QB?

If we sign him I think you have to try and get someone who’s going to win in the next couple years. Maybe they think that guy is Pickett (I don’t). Maybe they think they can get someone like Jimmy G in a trade down scenario. Maybe swap 1st rounders with SF and get JG too. Who knows..but I doubt they’re trying to sign Terron Armstead in order to put Cam or Darnold back there.

Actually can't believe what I'm reading in this thread. Are you guys serious? This signing would be an absolute DISASTER. Paying big money to a guy who has never played a full 16 games in his 9 year NFL career (and only 8 games last year), while playing one of the most physical positions in football would be an absolute disaster. I have no idea how any of you could think this would be a good move lol. Look at his GP history https://www.nfl.com/players/terron-armstead/stats/

It's pretty bad.

You don't pay big money to an O lineman when there is less than a 50/50 chance he plays more than 10 games for us. Doesn't matter how good he is if he's never on the field.

See: CMC

The past can only predict the future. He could have a healthy season getting off of that New Orleans turf.

Personally I'm okay either signing Armstead, or drafting Neal/Cross at 6. If you sign Armstead you could draft a defensive piece like Sauce Gardner or Nakobe Dean. Plus his leadership would really solidify that OL.

    • Why is it a no-brainer? I mean the idea of a hold out made me laugh out loud.
    • Oh, oh. I see what you are saying. Yeah but not all of those were draft for draft replacements. Jones was a dumpster dive. The overall point I was making is that it is becoming more common to see this quick pivots as people realize their mistakes. It happens with a lot of busts historically at QB.  IDK about "most teams" have fast, capable WR's. It's a mixed bag across the league. There are the Hopkins, Evans, etc that aren't sub-4.5 guys and are still star players.
    • So if it comes down to that, and it played out, we could be looking at a post June 1 designation for his 5th year money at best. Assuming it is guaranteed which I don’t know.     13.25 mil cap hit in 2027 and 2028.   I have to admit I never really went into the angles after picking up the option. I have always been don’t do it.    So, you pay him the 12 mil for year 4 and if you want out when they go into extension lobbying you trade or cut.  Is that conceivable?   The thing about trading is, I believe all the guaranteed money hits your cap right then. That’s 26.5 million if correct.  So if they picked up the 5th, this would cover the ‘we want out’ expenses from our end, after year 4.   Correct?
