There are rumors that Lance isn't ready to start. If that's true, SF isn't trading or cutting Jimmy. They'll keep him one more season.

I dunno about those rumors he flashed a lot in his spot start duty. I get that the 9ers are built to compete for championships now but they’re gonna have to put him out there and let him take his lumps as a rookie qb to learn and grow. Lance was obviously a long term investment but they’re not gonna get it done with Jimmy g.

Shanahan is about to lose that locker room. You spent 3 first round picks on that guy - you can't say he's not ready to start.

At least, somebody did. I still believe they intended to draft Mac but someone else stepped in last minute because of all the bad press about him not being any good.

I am not against a cheap Jimmy G deal. 1-2 years, whatever. As a bridge QB.

But not with Matt Rhule. We need competent leadership before we can even think about something like that. Otherwise it is just a waste of money and time.

...so..take a chance on his shoulder after surgery...mays well sign Cam.  Hes damaged goods.

Won't lose the game for them? Did you miss the last time Jimmy G was on the field?

I have a friend that’s a huge 49ers fan. He said if Jimmy didn’t fug his shoulder up against Cowboys they would’ve beat Rams. So he said it was pretty bad which is why he struggled against GB and LA. Idk just thought I would throw that out there

Everyone saying “not interested” must be down with seeing Sam Darnold lose double digit games again, or overdraft a Teddy Bridgewater clone because the coach recruited him out of high school.

Yea we don’t want to sign a guy who has played in the Super Bowl and was in the NFC Championship last year. Nah. Let’s not even consider it. Even if he was a reasonable contract and not giving up any assets to do it. Wow what a horrible idea that would be. I’d much rather have Sam Darnold!!!! Because I like rooting for losers.

Agreed.  For whatever reason you don't like JImmy G.  He's a winner.  If we could get him on a reasonable contract, what is your holdback?  So we draft a rookie, do any of you actually believe that ANY of these rookies are ready to start?

Hmm 30 year old QB with a banged up shoulder who has underachieved with a loaded roster and one of the best young head coaches. What could go wrong?

He's not a "winner". He's a mediocre QB on a really good overall roster. He's not good enough to provide any lift. If you're a roster that looks like a 5-7 win team without Jimmy G, you're still a 5-7 win team after adding Jimmy G.

    • https://nfltraderumors.co/2026-nfl-draft-grades-for-all-32-teams/      Grade: B+ Best Pick: Sam Hecht Biggest Reach (consensus rank): Jackson Kuwatch (NR) It's easy to love what Carolina did. The Panthers traded four times but ended the draft with the same number of selections that they started with and in approximately the same ranges. They did not take a player ahead of the consensus until Kuwatch at No. 227, and it's easy to see how he fell through the cracks playing at Miami of Ohio. He's a high-end athlete, though, and has a chance to develop, which is a fine profile for a seventh-rounder. Freeling and Brazzell also checked the high-end athleticism upside boxes for the Panthers. Carolina let the board come to them in the first round and could have a long-term solution at left tackle, which is a hard position to fill. Brazzell slid because of some maturity concerns as well as the difficulty in projecting receivers from Tennessee's Mickey Mouse offense. At 6-4, 200 pounds and 4.37 in the 40, though, the upside is undeniable. On top of that, the landed three starters on Day 3. Normally that's a high and unrealistic bar, but Hecht and Wheatley were both firmly inside the top 100 on the consensus board and have paths to win starting competitions. Lee fits the scheme well and has some interesting traits as an outside corner. What stopped me from a full-out A grade is not loving the Hunter pick, though he does fill a need to replace DT A'Shawn Robinson. There were prospects at other needs positions I would have been more jazzed about. The Brazzell pick is also an interesting risk for a team that's still in building mode, even coming off an NFC South title. Still, I'm nitpicking

    • i have not watched many gt games.  is it his accuracy that hurt his draft stock his armstrength or all of the above?
