Trading down to get picks because you make a mistake with Darnold and miss on a top talent at 6 just screams incompetence.

Maybe he thinks there isn’t much of a drop off in the first 20 or so. It’s also the reason why we might not have anyone wanting to trade up.

The fact that we are picking at 6 as opposed to deep in the 1st speaks more to their incompetence than trying to acquire more picks in my opinion.

Lol no way this team trades back. They constantly talk about swinging at QBs and considering we don't have one there's no way they don't draft the QB they like most at 6.

They didn't spend effort putting an oline together on 1-2 year deals for Sam Darnold.

I am getting so many mixed messages.
We are getting a QB at 6.
We are not getting a QB at 6 and trade back.
We are getting the best LT or DE at 6.
If we don’t get either a good LT or DE we are trading back.
Likely if we trade back we won’t be getting any of the QBs they want. Likely the Falcons and Seahawks and maybe even the Lions will all select a QB.
Trading back is fine as long as we can get some value out of gag pick. Even though I have never been a fan of trading back.

why do I feel we are trading back, picking an LT/C and then picking up Ridder in the 2nd.  Keep in mind Carolina had one of the best looks at Ridder and no need to goto his pro day.

Ridder would have been wise to come out last year.

As always with these QB prospects, the longer you start the more tape scouts have to pick apart your game.

He's not very well thought of in scouting circles from what I can see - inaccurate as hell with lots of mechanical flaws.

    • I think Indiana will win it all but Miami should give them a much better fight than Oregon did.
    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
