With no long term QB that we know of worth a damn under contract...this is a shame.

Get your QB...that's first, but if there isn't one, build like hell through the draft.  Solidify the defense, O Line, and get a couple weapons while keeping your cash on the side...some powder dry.

Then, once you have your QB, you have a well built team, a QB under contract long term, and a pile of cash to plug the holes to get ready to have a playoff team.

We do the opposite.

If you improve everything but the qb you'll be stuck at like the 7-8th pick everytime which lowers your chances of getting a franchise guy

There are so many unknowns for the 2023 "projection".  What will the new cap be?  How much will we carry over?  Who will get traded away (Robby, Shaq, CMC)?  Are we drafting a LT or QB?

Saints and Bucs are both projected in much worse shape than we are in 2023.  BTW aints aren't a contender and the Bucs are a contender if Brady plays in 2023.

I'm not worrying about the 2023 cap in 2022.

btw, Weren't the Saint OVER the cap a month ago and now have the 2nd largest cap space?

Couldn't the Panthers just not use a large portion of that cap and roll it over to next year? That provides a ton of space before any cuts or restructures next offseason.

You're referring to the team whose head coach / top decision maker needs to save his job?

It’s in the link in his post, just change to 2023 and hit update and you see this hot mess. Somehow we are over the 2023 and we are so far from competing.

It's called a terrible FO with terrible decisions. It also says that Matt Rhule will be here next year as well. You don't allow a lame duck coach to mortgage the future like that. Tepper is fuging up at every point in football.

Carry over some, obvious restructures of Moton and DJ. Extensions for Burns and Shaq.

Its not hard to free up a quick 40-50 million but there will certainly be more holes next year.

Which is terrible when you are not even at. 500. No way we don't trade CMC, Shaq, and Maybe Anderson next year just for cap relief.

    • He was saying Ron hid when he was cut/traded whatever that was.  I get being resentful, and feeling like that was gutless.  He, and Ron, neither are from the ‘breaking up with someone in a text or email is okay’ generation. That avoidance is seen as a lack of character.  Talking about it on camera how many years later? Why? And it is all one sided he said she said stuff. As he is speaking I am thinking well I bet that ain’t the whole story.    Between this type of stuff and him cheating on the wife stuff some of his shine is wearing off.
    • I was very critical of Ron Rivera as a coach for a range of reasons. But Steve Smith has been playing the victim for years now and it's just not working anymore. We know for a fact that he was disgruntled from the moment we drafted Cam Newton because of his own ego. That says more about him than anything he could say about Rivera. And yes Ron Rivera had a lot of faults. No excuses for it. We were right to move on from him. But ultimately Steve Smith couldn't hold it together with that group the same as he struggled to hold it together under previous regimes. He needs to grow up and accept his own role in the last few years of his Panthers career because there are things he could and should have done differently the same as anyone else. Stop seeking to only shift blame to everyone else and evolve or just stop talking and fade away. This isn't helping anyone and it is certainly not helping his image.
    • A friend of mine was involved in building Steve Smith's house and nearly came to blows with him during the process.  Love Smitty as a player, but I've heard very little good about him as a human being.
