You are what your record says you are.

36-18 w/ a Super Bowl game, 2 NFC Championship appearances, multiple playoff wins over Whiny Aaron, etc…

…that ain’t “mid level”…

…that’s elite👊

Let’s trade for Nick Foles. Super MVP Elite!!

Jimmy G had just about a perfect situation for a QB---you see his best.

Exactly.... its why I say if we do go down that road, I'd rather see if Baker has peaked. Jimmy had the perfect supporting cast on both sides and just doesn't have enough. I'm not even completely  sold on Baker but I think that chip on his shoulder and his energy would be welcomed. This team is devoid of leaders that talk and he at least brings that asset.

Jimmy G isn't a bad idea but the situation isn't great for us at the moment. If we could get him on a one year rental for something like a 3rd round or less draft pick, I'd be in.

But he is also owed $26 mil and that cap could be very valuable to roll over, as well.

The biggest fear is less about Jimmy G and more about our "braintrust." I could see them immediately giving him a big extension or overpaying, like they did with Teddy and Darnold.

It won't be the "same" mistake if we're not giving up draft capital. It's not really even the same with a little draft capital and Darnold's contract. It would be horrific--absurd to trade for him, give up draft capital, and keep Darnold's contract on the books. But we can't realistically afford that so I'm not too worried.

It would be the exact same mistake. The resources given up are of secondary concern to how many times those loser staff and this loser organization can hitch their wagon to a loser journeyman QB chasing dreams of a .500 season. At some point you actually have to try to be great.

i honestly suspect rhule desires a QB like garroppolo because he is what he is: an average player with average personality and average value and average ability who can be thoroughly indoctrinated into the Rhule mold. He won’t complain when he only throws 11 passes in a game, he won’t dance in the endzone, he won’t threaten Rhule’s authority by virtue of being a big personality with big stardom.

he’s small and average, and that’s exactly what rhule and his dated view on the QB position wants

Baker Mayfield is not a good leader lol. We would go from Sam Darnold who has zero leadership abilities to Baker who is toxic to his own teammates. How is that better?

It's all about the price for Jimmy G and the contract. Jimmy can have a one year prove it deal and we'll trade a 4th or 5th for him. That's fine. Trading high picks and giving him a mega contract will send me packing as a fan until Rhule is fired. I can't accept another idiotic move as a fan. One more boneheaded move and I'll leave until Rhule is fired, and this is coming from someone who follows the team year round. I'm out if we making another idiotic mistake.

At least we have saw a guy that helped  a team win 11 games and that year, he was a leader. Last year I'll admit, he was all over the place but he did play through a torn left shoulder. I'm sure some guys in the locker room  liked that. Cleveland is a hard place to critique  players because  of all of the dysfunction. Landry, O'Dell and others all got the boot.  I'll admit that he has some quarks but if we dealing with Rhule... id rather he not have a rookie qb and then get fired and a new coach wants another qb. I hate the thought of a lame duck coach with a rookie qb.  If Baker does good, it's a win.... if he doesn't, we get to rinse ourselves of him and Rhule.

Jimmy Garoppolo could be a great fit for Panthers, but Carolina should wait on a trade

To me, this seems like just another random article talking about what may be possible based on random speculations supposedly from some unknown source whom we are supposed to accept as someone who may or may not have real knowledge about a player's abilities or a coach's system and a team's thought process.

Presumably,  based on how I interpreted the vague wording, this unknown person doesn't work with SF or Carolina, hasn't worked with Jimmy G nor McAdoo, and yet this is supposed to be taken seriously.

This is my problem with "journalism" today. It's become another form of entertainment much like "reality t.v." It began in the real world and has also taken over sports and everything else.

Random ideas, opinions, speculations and sometimes even imagination is presented to us a real news to get attention, sell advertising, and sometimes even to influence our perceptions of reality by creating a "group think" narrative based on an ideological agenda.

The words are always carefully chosen to not be specific so they cannot be directly challenged. Anonymous sources with an important title to give it credibility, subtle use of words expressing possibility such a may, maybe, could, etc. for legal and defensive reasons, and general repetition of such proclamations made repeatedly by multiple sources using the same language to create a sense of fact.

If people read or hear the same idea or story repeated often enough as "news" or "accepted truth" then the majority of people will accept it as fact and ignore the words expressing possibility even though it was never presented to them as fact but only as rumor or an opinion.

It's a psychological mind trick. You don't have to prove something to be true, you just have to repeat it often enough that people think it must be true. This is how the "group think" opinions are created and belived and why you usually hear people expressing the same things to justify their opinions or beliefs. I can guess most peoples arguments before they give them about 90% of the time for this reason. I read these things and automatically dismiss them as mostly fiction.
