The Saints and Pickett

Saints beat writer Jeff Duncan thinks the Pitt QB could be a target.

From the article...

Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune believes that, if the Saints go with a quarterback in round one, the guy they take could be Pitt’s Kenny Pickett.

The hand-size issue may not deter the Saints. The Saints play their home games indoors, eliminating the potential impact of the elements for at least eight or nine games per year (plus road games in domes). Also, Duncan notes that Saints assistant G.M. Jeff Ireland drafted quarterback Ryan Tannehill a decade ago. Tannehill had (and presumably still has) hands on the smaller size, at only nine inches.

You know how this goes, of course. If the Saints take him, he'll be a Hall of Famer who will torture us for years. If we take him, he'll be a complete bust 😕

I feel the Saints will double up on WR with their first 2 picks. They will bring in a mid-round QB they think highly of and believe will out compete Winston over the next 2 seasons. Dalton is there to groom the rookie QB. Book will be cut if they bring in the QB they have been talking to since February.

    • Dave in a presser gassed up Anthony Tyus III and dying to see him on the field.  I mean 3 is all that needed right, and Dan loves etienne. He's one year filling in his body. If brooks is back, toss in chubba, thats 3.
    • After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...
    • My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
