Contrary to popular belief from someone I have talked to, Tepper doesn’t like government money because that means there are strings attached.

Tepper already said the new stadium in Charlotte will only be built with him paying 1/3 of the cost.  He must not dislike government money too much.

Thats what Jensen said... Jerry Jones did the same thing when he built the Star.  No govt money.

Building a stadium isnt the same as a building a development in RH.

Just from the way things look, meaning you physically go down there and look at it... they have already built a large chunk of infrastructure in that bridge alone.  Someone is paying for it and if RH hasnt put up their part then most likely Tepper has footed the bill for well over a year.

Ehhh we’ll see when it comes to that. Early hiccups with Rock Hill and Charlotte have probably changed his tuned.

People forget, Charlotte FC HQ was going on the old eastland mall site till the city started making demands what he did with the property in terms of housing and such. FC will still be on the site but they have nixed the HQ there.

Tepper would like the city to buy the land for a new stadium.  Preferable the pipe and foundry location.

Tepper would prefer to own the land himself but that can't happen is the land isn't for sale 🤔.

That site is no good for a stadium anyway...

That makes sense.  I still have a hard time believing the plans for the rest of the infrastructure arent available. Project is just too big for them to be winging it.

This is a fact. Tepper may be the man who signed the deal with whomever he did in RH but after that his people do the rest.

The design firm/firms would be the responsible charge to submit the plans for approval to start the permitting process. That is a very involved process, especially with State permitting required as well.  At least that's how it works in NC.

Honestly, i have not cared enough about this fiasco to follow beyond what the local TV reports on it so take my 2 cents as what it is.

I’m not mad at Tepper in this. If you and a friend agree to split the cost of an Airbnb (even though you have more money than your friend it’s still only right that you split) and your friend all of a sudden can’t pay for their part of the Airbnb then idk about y’all but I’m gonna cancel the Airbnb. Yeah Tepper could pay for it himself but that wasn’t the deal and it’s unfair to blame him when the city reneged not him. Be mad at him about Rhule Not at trying to honor the contract.

Nonsense.

He liked the 1st deal...but Rock Hill didn't follow through on their obligations.

You completely misunderstood @razorwolf's insightful and accurate post.

No one except you has sympathy for a billionaire. He’s at the center of it and is losing the battle of public opinion. The dude is a prick who could write his own check to build the facility, he just doesn’t want to. He’d rather take some money off the taxpayers and then walk away to gain leverage when it doesn’t work out the way he planned. I don’t give two shits about the “details.” The fact that it didn’t work out and has ended in a PR disaster that tepper is at the center of does no surprise me in any way. People with normal size egos don’t solve their problems this way. Billionaire narcissistic assholes do.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
