Looking back would you rather have Watson and a vet LT or Icky/Corral

Okay Huddle GM’s. Slow week with news so I figured I would open up a discussion on what YOU would rather do as GM of the Panthers if you had a choice. 

The Watson update threads were a thing of magic. The overall sense *at the time* was that the majority of posters here on the board were open to the idea of landing Watson. Knowing what we know now, would you rather have:

1. ( Watson/ vet LT) for the exact trade package the Browns gave up knowing that you have a top of the league franchise QB

OR

2. (Icky/Corral) even though we may have to endure another season of Darnold we get to keep future assets/picks and young players. Much less known with Corral as a franchise QB but you keep your cap/draft picks for the future.

Icky/Corrall.

Who knows what these future players could be. Little Sewell, another WR1 to replace Robby next year, a true 4-3 DE.

Now we also dont have to pay him $40mil a year for a QB and tie up all your salary while having Brian Burns contract coming up too. I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

I could not have been more pleased (or surprised) with how our 2022 NFL Draft turned out.

Ickey / Corral. 

If we had Watson, we'd be the ones awkwardly trying to get anything we could for Darnold like the Browns are stuck trying to get anything for Mayfield. Mayfield is considered a better player by the league. We'd be getting even less interest in Darnold.

We'd be hoping that BC can be a starting LT and pencil Deonte Brown or Elfein at LG.

Doesn't one help the other? Way to metally coach up your stars.

Everybody already knows their role on a professional football team.

They know who's a starter and who's a role player why play these silly games? Why waste time and money?

You take Icky and you put him on that damn field and tell him "you're going to be the best tackle in Panthers history if you put in the work and learn".

You give Matt the friggin' football from day one and you tell him "We brought you here to lead this team. YOU are the future. Put in the work and learn and YOU could be the best QB in Panthers history".

The future shall not be OVERRHULED!

He's a college junior that ran an RPO offense. He is simply not ready to be thrust in an NFL game day 1.

      A Parable.  By MHS. Once in MHS land, there were two ways to get home from Lowe's.  MHS's wife, the evil scourge from Ohio, used to shriek, "Turn right!!! It is faster!!!"  MHS refused to give in to the evil scourge's unsubstantiated logic because he had a different, more direct path in mind.  That did not deter the evil scourge from scourging, until one day, the evil scourge's brother met us at Lowe's and she rode home with him, determined to get home more quickly with her Ohio State graduated brother.  They turned right.   Behind them, I turned left.  When they arrived at our home, the evil scourge's lair, I was already parked, inside the house, and feasting on a warm Pop Tart.  The evil scourge had been defeated.  Moral?  Sometimes, you think your way is the best way or the only way.  That makes you an evil scourge, blind to the ways of someone else, who might have a better way that your ego blinds you from considering.       We'll see. No one thought Jayden Daniels was gonna be the #2 overall pick this time last year. No one would've predicted Joe Burrow being the #1 overall pick a year prior.

      Brooks himself confirmed he's already running and will be ready for training camp come July.  There's diff types of tears and a 6th month recovery for a clean tear linesn up.    If that's the case, I think he's getting snaps immediately and that could be bulk/majority by midseason worst case.
