College football student sections, crazy hockey towns, MLS supporter sections, Red Sox and Yankees fans ... it's just a different breed. Put the knuckleheads from the 500 section down in the 100-300s at BOA and it'd look and sound different on TV I'd imagine. BOA is just too large with too many casuals to always be rocking (outside of a Playoff game). It is what it is. No harm no foul.

The day BOA lets fans wave massive flags or banners in their seats, shoot smoke bombs, chant players names, sing, beat drums, slam plexiglass (er ... chairs?), curse, etc. is a day I'd like to see.

You are right.  Each team and sport are very different. Hockey is fun and loud with lots of back and forth with less strategy and more teamwork and grinding. Lots of banging and fighting on and off the ice. Crowds are loud and rowdy.

Soccer crowds are actually pretty fun and everyone sings chants and makes noise while we wait for something to happen. Our section 127 in BOA isn't in the supporter section but we all stand the whole game.  Imagine that at a Panther game.

Football is highly controlled to avoid fights and pander to the family crowd. We stand in the upper deck on third down and when things are close. I stand a lot anyway. But it has been a while since we had some raucous crowds like against New England in 2004 and Tampa in 2008. The playoff run in 2015.  I would be up for more noise and big old flags and a crowd happy to be there win or lose.

The hurricanes are a good team that compete for championships in a town that really has nothing else to do - The panthers are a terrible organization with no direction and no reason to be optimistic about the future and play in young city with ten thousand better things to do

Raleigh…,has nothing else to do….come on man ..

    • This is a good take it really is to the point dc needs to let the world see the real byoung b/c right now everyone in the media and tepper has had blinders on when it comes to young.  Its hard to even know where the panthers are at skill player wise with such horrible qb play.  I doubt it but legette may be a probowl wr he just cant throw the ball and catch it.  I am just so sick of every excuse in the book for byoung.  LIstened to a podcast and the guy was going over how many different options byoung had on the int and all of them were ok except for the one where he threw an int.  He said the play could be run by a hs qb and they would typically make a good decision.
    • I certainly have my complaints about Canales but I'm not ready to fire him yet for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, Tepper has made this one of the least appealing jobs in the league. Morgan and Canales are here to begin with in large part because guys higher on the wish list take other jobs. If you fire Canales you're gonna end up replacing him with another third tier candidate who wasn't being seriously considered by other teams with openings. That's just the reality of the situation right now as far as I can tell. Secondly, despite plenty of room for critique, we are 6-6 despite the worst QB play in the league. That's really damn hard to pull off in the modern NFL. Especially when your D isn't dominant. Our D is greatly improved but is still a slightly below average overall defense ranking 18th in yards per game allowed and 20th in points allowed. Going 6-6 with atrocious QB play and slightly below average defensive play is pretty damn impressive. Even more impressive when you also factor in that we're in the red on turnovers differential at -3. When you combine league worst QB play with slightly below average D and negative turnover differential honestly you'd expect to be in play for the #1 overall pick, not 6-6 and having just played a game that a win would have you leading the division. So yeah, even though I'm far from sold I advocate for patience with Canales for the time being. If you ask me if I'm bringing him back next year, I'm a yes barring a catastrophic meltdown down the stretch which admittedly is very much a possibility.
