Remember the story that the Panthers were considered the least "merit-based" team in the league when it came to playing time? Likewise the saying that we had guys starting on our roster who wouldn't even make a team elsewhere?

That's why something like this gets said.

I didn't say that they knew who the best player was.  That's a different story altogether.  Just because they say the best player starts doesn't mean they know who that is.

The fact it needs to be said really says it all. To bad it comes from the GM and not the waste of space we call a HC.

I think every coach and GM has said this exact same thing. If fact they all probably say it every year because they have to do media rounds. This is such a common phrase is the NFL/sports.

When you play Erving and then Daley over BC at LT the last half of the year it really doesn't matter what you say, it's the fact the actions were so wrong.

I’m almost rooting for him now. I thought he did an awful job last year, which he did, but it’s almost silly now. Fitterer is a hero now and Rhule is responsible for every bad thing. I’m not sold on Fitterer yet. Taking Iky was a stroke of luck, still in shock that he was there, but the decision to take him was a no brainer. It stemmed from our 2021 draft which wasn’t good once the rubber hit the road. Sure the “value” looked good but we got a lot of nickels and in hindsight we whiffed on OL which is why this off-season was all about the OL.

I’ll be interested to see how it goes this year. If Corral doesn’t work out, it’s Rhule’s fault and if he does work out, it’s because Fitterer was able to overrule Rhule and his love for Darnold.

GM is getting a bump he doesn’t deserve strictly because Rhule has looked so horrible of late.

To be fair, even in GM centric operations, head coaches still control the depth chart.

I do but in to the idea that Fitterer had increased influence over the offseason personnel process this year. Have a hard time imagining him making playing time decisions though.

My hunch...Rhule will HAVE to play the best players vs. what he thinks is best for the football team.

Meaning, his way doesn't work, now we do it the right way.

Yeah, in reality its harder than it looks.   Someone can dominate in practice and then stink it up on game day.  Sometimes its a coin toss.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
