Corral was briefly mentioned in Albert Breer's latest MMQB column as well...

You can tell talking to people there that Panthers rookie QB Matt Corral flashed real physical ability at the team’s rookie minicamp. Do I think it means he’ll wind up beating out Sam Darnold? I think, based on the relatively simple, R.P.O.-heavy offense he’s coming from, it’s way too early to even think about that yet.

Rodgers is who I think of when I see his play style.  He won’t be as good as Rodgers because let’s face it, who is?  But I’m stoked about Corral and what he can bring to the table.  The mobility and accuracy, especially while on the move, is huge.  And the guy has an edge to him that our offense has sorely been missing.  If he stays healthy and can get the mental side down, oh wee mayne

Come on, man, he was never on drugs. The media obviously has gone way overboard with the alcohol stuff also. Panthers fans don't need to be the source of disinformation (even in jest). It's in poor taste at best.

You don’t like Corral we freaking get it. The stuff reported about his struggles was old. Really man, be better.

I’ve changed my tune on Matt. I’m all in. I think he can succeed here with a strong locker room and competent coaching staff. The OL is already better than last season and that was a huge problem.

I don't give a rip if Corral might of had a bit too much fun early in college.  That basically describes 99% of college kids.   What matters is how he settled in.  And most importantly he has a natural leadership (which is key) and a fun style to his game.  After all, this is entertainement. 

I still remember Rhule almost bragging about Sam not needing to be a leader lol.  Yeah, the brand and his master vision.

Thank you--the skills are there, the leadership is there---all he needs is some protection and a running game, and this guy will turn heads.

Schuyler Callihan chimed in with a rookie Camp observation as well...

They really didn't throw the ball downfield much with Corral over the weekend. It was a lot of underneath stuff and some play-action that had him rolling to both sides. When he did stand firm in the pocket, he looked comfortable. The five and seven step drops are something that will take some time for him to get used to, but this offense will primarily run out of the gun anyway. On tape, Corral had one of the quickest releases I've seen. In person, it looked even quicker. It's a natural, effortless motion that is something I haven't seen before. He was very accurate with the ball and on the few shots they did take downfield, he put it right on the money.

Not sure about the shotgun thing. I don't remember enough about McAdoo's offense to know if that's true.

Callihan did also have this to say about first round pick Ikem Ekwonu's camp...

Ekwonu already looks the part. It's easy to see why everyone in the Panthers' building calls him a tone-setter. There were a couple of times that he nearly ran the guy (another lineman) holding the pad into the ground. He's just a massive human being who has tremendous strength. He'll be starting at left tackle from day one.

well, he needs more than that.  He needs playcalling.   You can have a decent OL and talent....but if you are running a predictable and unimaginative O then your talent basically all gets downgraded. 

McAdoo still has some legit redflags.  While Eli did have 2 great statistical seasons while he was OC,  McAdoo's head coaching tenure was defined by predictable and very unimaginative offense.   So there still are some question marks on if Eli (a SuperBowl/Pro Bowl ) QB simply took advatnage of OBJ being an intital problem for folks to cover and it not being create actual playcalling and scheme.   And it also makes me nervous the league almost deemed him unemployable until we gave him this OC job.  Heck, if Matt Rhule said no thanks to Ben twice being his QB coach.....then suddently his is good enough to be OC.

      Some of this is just brainstorming/throwing poo against the wall, seeing as how we have one of the least talented QB rooms in the league.  We need a talent infusion badly.  I feel Shedeur has the prerequisite talent athletically and as a passer, and I have since his college career.  Do I think he will actually be traded this offseason?  99% not likely.  On one hand, he’s proven to likely be the best QB on their roster.  On the other, they, and no other team wanted to take a chance on him for 4 rounds, so there has to be a price they would be willing to part ways with him for.  That’s why I brought up the Joe Milton situation as an example.  He was drafted to a team who took another rookie QB much earlier in the draft, spent his rookie year with them, then was traded before his second year for a relatively low value.  But, again, I also think the attention Shedeur naturally garners makes teams uncomfortable about rostering him if he’s not a starter.

      I'm content to see how the next 4 games play out. Mostly because there are no other options! These are certainly more important games than at the same time last year...let's just see what happens. It's exhausting constantly yelling about Bryce. He's here, will almost certainly be our starter next year as well. Nothing to do but sit back and watch, and have faith that DM and DC will make the best move available for the future success of the team. They've done a good job so far. Way better than anything else coming out of Carolina for the last 8 or so years.
