Comparing Sam, Baker, and Jimmy vs. shared opponents last season

Mentioning passing stats without mentioning who had the better offensive lines and better players around him is very disingenuous

Both Baker and Jimmy had top 10 Offensive lines last year

Sam Darnold has a bottom 5 Offensive every year he has played.

Baker  and Jimmy had better recievers, runningbacks, o Line and Tight ends their entire careers.

If you mention Darnold being a trash passer at least mention he has also had the worst offensive line and worse skill players around him compared to those two.

The problem with Jimmy G is when the running game gets shut down and they need his arm he shits the bed.  Look at almost every playoff game this past year.  He played awful (yeah they still won until the NFC championship, but it was in spite of him).  Baker may be the same way because the Browns usually have a strong running game.  Baker is just younger with a bit higher of a ceiling and has shown he can play decent with bad coaches.  Jimmy G has had some great teams and coaches.

We're gonna have Icky and BC on the left side. Our running game will not be shut down.

I worry about this actually. Icky was a great run blocker in college, but BC doesn't get much push if he's our starting LG. Also teams will load the box (as they did last year). It is imperative that the QB can make it through his progressions and throw the ball down the field somewhat successfully to really help our OL and running game take off.

There is virtually no difference between Sam and Baker as far as qbs are concerned.  You can cherry pick whatever stat you want to it won't matter. They both suck and  I can't believe the team wants to throw money and picks at another Sam Darnold clone that is a colossal asshole.

I was leaning that way but both Jimmy and Baker had a better Oline.

His supporting casts no doubt could have been better as far as OL goes but what sunk him through his NFL career are his turnovers and he had a high TO rate in college. Can't win if you can't protect the football.

That's the part that worries me most about Baker tbh. Jimmy is well liked in the locker room, while Sam "is an okay dude." Baker, on the other hand, has documented issues with teammates.

Hopefully the coaching staff doesn't look at that and chalk it up to "passion" that they feel was missing from the team. -_-

Yea emotions are ok ala Delhomme

but when people start saying they or someone is ‘passionate’ about something…it’s basically code word for annoyingly overbearing

it’s not a compliment

the greats are emotional, which is ok

No he wouldnt. He would be too concerned over his completion percentage to take any chances. Pussiest QB I have ever seen.

I mean, Teddy has played for 4 teams and only has a losing record with the Panthers.   Of course he would have a winning record with SF.   Your describing both Teddy and Jimmy G.  Their game is pretty similar.

Jimmy and Baker had a much better line.

Tua had a worse line than Sam and played significantly better.  It helps gives you a value of Sam which is significantly lower than a player like Tua who is on a make or break year with the Dolphins this year.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
