Add Phillip Rivers total to your list.

Oh, for sure, I was responding to DD who had mentioned him and Russ.

Leary is gonna be a good player this year as well, guessing he gets drafted this year.  QB U right now.

I was afraid I was missing the obvious one due to reading the last page of the book first!

That's what I get for trying to be on this forum while I am on a Zoom meeting.  I have to get my priorities straight and say screw the Zoom meetings at work!

Yeah, Darnold didn't have years of prepping for this. He was an accidental QB. He would be in his 30's to even catch the amount of reps that Trevor has had to date.

He's just far behind the curve and he really hasn't shown the ability to develop. In hindsight, he probably should have stayed in college all four years. Perhaps he could have learned enough to help his development. But then again, maybe he would have ended up a late round pick and he wouldn't be financially secure. So, maybe it worked out the best for Sam Darnold in the end.

I wholeheartedly agree with this post. Going high in the 1st round should have the young man set financially for the rest of his life. That's great for him.

In terms of his actual career as a NFL QB, he should have stayed at USC for another year to get more reps at the position. He would have had more experience coming into the league. This would have probably resulted in him going to another franchise instead of the Jets, who were definitely going to take a QB that year in the draft. Coming out a year later, could have resulted in him going to a better franchise with better coaching. It's also possible that he could have been allowed to sit a year, maybe even two, before seeing the field.

All that's water under the bridge. If Corral isn't ready, I hope Sam can successful this year. He seems like a nice guy. I still think if he received some solid coaching from a coach like Bill Walsh, Andy Reid, Mike Holmgrem, etc he could become a serviceable QB in the league.

Hah, no worries.  Yea, gotta quit that work stuff at some point.

Only reason I'm on here as much as I am is how much down time I have at work.  Need something to make me laugh between meetings and getting screamed at.

It's the lack of GAF for sure.

Had a lot in me teens, less in my 20's, way more in my 30's....now....don't give a F.

I am not terribly convinced he sees his flaws clearly enough to work on them. But, it's alsp possible that he just isn't capable of processing information at a level that is required to be a good NFL QB.

It does happen. Plenty of guys make it to the NFL that don't have that ability.

That Minnesota throw was clutch and elite.

Imagine if we could just get that most of the time.....

That's what caught the NFL's eye 4 years ago...he's a very talented thrower of the football, and a heck of an athlete.....he just struggles with the "other stuff" needed to play QB in the NFL.

He can make some wow throws.....can.

Can Darnold improve his panic response which is why he throws so many picks?  I think he can. But you have to know what you need to do before you feel the adrenaline and cortisol. Sure he has some bone head throws when he is under little or no pressure but the 40% he is pressured is the huge reason he throws so many picks when he feels heat.  And you have to be willing to dump it off and take the sure 5 yards instead of throwing a pick trying to squeeze it into double coverage. Know when to throw it away and when to run. A bunch of quick throws, dump offs and automatic reads will help both Darnold and Corral get used to playing in this system and should make them look better than they are.  Of course ha ING a decent line might help as well.

Some fans have Stockholm Syndrome from all these years of suffering and it shows. That's the only explanation to still be carrying water for such awful quarterbacks.

    • The If they have to pay the guys that generate the revenue, how do they support the parasitic programs?  You'd have to go purely by the numbers to keep the most self sufficient sports programs and as many of the lesser revenue producing programs as allowable. By the real numbers not some manufactured hierarchy.  Guess who loses that one. Will people allow them to lose? No there would be hell to pay. So here we go.
    • If I said more about why I see the league being part of the problem I couldn’t post.  Still love football, my dad was an example of the difference between college and pro. He ended up coaching for several years. I went on a couple of visits for college ball but knew I wasn’t NFL caliber and had some pretty compelling interests outside of athletics and here we are. I went another way. Still love football but seriously falling out of love with the NFL. Have zero love for Tepper.    edit: to stay OnTopic the wins come from facing teams that are down for whatever reason, that week. I don’t know how to know more specifics ahead of their random demises.
