Corral to IR is a good thing….

That was probably going to happen anyway if he didn't get injured..

The only scenario where we wouldn’t draft a QB would be one where Baker lights it up and gets an extension. If Baker struggles we probably have a bad record and Rhule could be fired. New coach drafts his guy and Corral competes with the rookie (probably won’t beat out a first round pick IMO).

Our FO gave him a first round grade. Don't gloss over that fact.

He'll get his chance next year with our new coach, but that's because he was a 3rd rounder, not because of whatever grade he had.

It wasn't like he showed anything at all this preseason - which probably was on Rhule's shitty player development.

Live reps help more than sitting back and watching.

This injury might be a career changer for Corral, If we do suck that means Rhule is fired Baker and Sam are gone and we end up picking a QB next year. if we end up with a good record there’s not a chance in hell they let go of Baker for Corral coming off an injury. It’s a bad situation for Corral all around

They were talking out their ass to make Corral feel better.  He is not a 1st round talent and you know it. I like him as well as the rest of you guys but I know he's not and so does everyone else.

I had hope just like everyone else that he might defy the odds and make an impact here but he is just not an impact player.  He may become one and would have had a better shot had he not gotten hurt.  This injury means he has lost any shot at being the first in line as backup much less starter.

No new coach is taking the job without assurances that they can pick a new qb in the first.   Nobody is taking the job thinking they have to win with corral

This. No one is tying a new coach to a 3rd rounder coming off of an entire season on IR. If Rhule is retained, it probably means Mayfield earned an extension. If Rhule gets fired the new staff is going to want a shiny new QB of their own.

Of course they're going to draft a new QB. He'll still get a chance in camp I bet.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
