Zylstra unless we have a trade lined up with the Bears to deal Robbie.

These likely are the Panthers' 5 WRs: DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson, Shi Smith, Terrace Marshall Jr., Laviska Shenault and Rashard Higgins. Could mean the end for kick return specialist Andre Roberts. Shi Smith could return kicks.

Panthers like their top four WRs, DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson, Terrace Marshall Jr., and Shi Smith. Trade tells me they weren't sold on the experience and talent behind them.

Some details
-Shenault will be a hybrid WR/ RB, capable of operating near LOS as runner, receiver or blocker.
-Deal does not affect Terrace Marshall's role or status on the team.
-McAdoo has history with Shenault from 2020
- Team gave up undisclosed draft comp to Jacksonville.

So we are adding another WR to what looked like a crowded WR room.  We have an OC who's history is a pass heavy O.  We brought in a gun slinger QB.  We were pass heavy in the preseason.  I think our days of a balanced run/pass attack are over.  It will preserve CMC and make us harder to plan against.

Oof. Yeah, that's pretty steep.

This crew keeps robbing Peter to pay Paul with their draft capital. I guess future draft capital doesn't really matter to you if you have to win this year to be around next year

*Ah... I initially read this as we traded a 2nd for Shenault. Now I realize you were referring to TMJ.

I honestly expect us to deal TMJ for whatever we can get after this move.

Seems to be a foregone conclusion at this point if he cannot stay on the field. I was excited for his potential but at the time I knew we passed over oline talent and we convinced ourselves it was a slam dunk because supposedly the Saints were after him too. It's funny some folks can't handle discussing these truths and just rush in to poo posts like if they just double and triple down everything will work out in our favor 😂

Also why do we keep trading future draft picks for guys who aren't wanted by their current teams?

Anything more than a future conditional 7th rounder and this will be even more frustrating given Shi being a similar role type of player already on the squad, but why do I feel like this is going to end up being a 4th rounder or something

Rhe team wants to win. I know you're not interested

I’m willing to bet it’s a 2024 pick

I thinks its a safe bet.

Plus there maybe " he needs to be on the roster 12 week or pick is void" type of language.

Most times its 6th/7th type of deal. Both sides agree to the wording, to save the player/agent grief.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.

    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
