I think we should be prepared to let burns walk

Wilson had a nice blitz on an oblivious backup QB. Didn't seem like much and no real pressure from the front 4. It's just not a balanced D, in itself or with the O they run.

Yeah would have been sending one guy blitzing like that all day long if we were just gonna have some lame 5 yard off the line zone thing or whatever we were doing. At least force the QB to rush throws

If we pay him like a top tier pass rushing DE it's gonna set us back tremendously. He's just not a good fit for our scheme and we shouldn't be putting big resources into players who dont fit the scheme.

I think Burns is good...not great. Top tier passing rushing ends are getting around $20 mil a season. He's not worth that.

He's still young and has room to improve, but if ends the season with less than 10 sacks , and the his run defense doesn't improve ,  then you have to begin planning to let him walk if he wants a top dollar contract.

Imagine our pass rush without Burns.

He's a good edge rusher. Not elite. Not great when being ran directly at.

But he's good. He's the least of our issues on D.

He's going to be a problem if we give him a second contract that's anything like the hype he receives.

He's a good piece on a great defence. He isn't a cornerstone piece though - I hope we don't pay him like one.

Burns is fine. He's got elite athleticism and contributes more to the team than just sacks. Disruption is production it just doesn't show up on the stat sheet. How much attention is being paid to burns? How many times are they forced to chip him and double him?

Anyone who demands attention from the other tram to scheme around is a asset. That said who is the other pass rusher to take advantage of the 1v1?  This is where reddick is missed. Gross is a jag and luvu God bless his effort just isn't elite anywhere except effort.

He’s not a player that changes the game. He’s not a player to build the defense around.

Browns are running right at him and erasing him. This is similar to last year.

constantly dinged up.

some team is gonna pay him like a game changing DE: let them.

ask yourself who is more important: chinn or burns

He was literally the only mother fuger who either made solo tackles (scraping or chasing), or made initial contact and actually finished the tackle.

He's a one dimensional player with a knack for not tackling the QB.

Yep

He simply doesn’t finish plays. Most of the top edge rushers got sacks yesterday.

Same old Burns. If some team is willing to trade a couple 1’s at the deadline for him I’m thinking long and hard about it.

Here's the problems with your proposal, I wouldn't trust the current regime to draft anyone replace him. I don't think the coaching staff is good at evaluating d-lineman. Right now he is our best lineman.

Burns still isn't 25. I'd like to see him stay and become a standout in the league. I just don't think he's worth $20 mil a season. In the NFL, the next man up always seems to dictate the market cost even if he isn't as good as the guy that preceded him.
