Firing Rhule and Snow isn't going to change anything. The vast majority of the staff are Rhule's guys.

I did a deep dive on the current Panthers coaching staff trying to find which coaches have no prior connection to Rhule. Rhule had one season of NFL experience as an assistant offensive line coach on the 2012 Giants. Aside from that, all of his experience was in the college ranks. The following coaches were connected to Rhule in college or in his one season with the Giants:

Defense:

Phil Snow - DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR (Temple, Baylor)

Al Holcomb - ASSISTANT HEAD COACH, DEFENSE (Giants)

Evan Cooper - CORNERBACKS/DIRECTOR OF PLAYER EVALUATION (Temple, Baylor)

Mike Siravo - DEFENSIVE RUN GAME COORDINATOR (Temple, Baylor)

Terrance Knighton - ASSISTANT DEFENSIVE LINE (Temple)

Don Johnson - PASS RUSH SPECIALIST (UCLA)

Offense:

Jeff Nixon - ASSISTANT HEAD COACH, OFFENSE (Temple, Baylor)

Sean Ryan - QUARTERBACKS (Giants)

Kevin M. Gilbride - TIGHT ENDS (Temple, Giants)

Matt Lombardi - PASS GAME SPECIALIST (Baylor)

Special Teams:

Ed Foley - ASSISTANT SPECIAL TEAMS (Temple, Baylor)

Assistants:

Rob Dvoracek - DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT (Temple, Baylor)

Garret McGuire - COACHING ASSISTANT (Baylor)

Bobby Maffei - DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT (Temple, Baylor)

Cedric Whitaker - SPECIAL TEAMS ASSISTANT (Baylor)

Strength and Conditioning:

Jeremy Scott - HEAD STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH (Penn State, Temple, Baylor)

Thomas Barbeau - STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING ASSISTANT (Baylor)

Corey Campbell - STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING ASSISTANT (Baylor)

Administration:

Matthew "Los" Delgado - CHIEF OF STAFF (Temple, Baylor)

Morgan Fleming - COACHING OPERATIONS COORDINATOR (Baylor)

Jarrett Wishon - ASSISTANT TO THE HEAD COACH (Western Carolina, maybe others)

I didn't even dig into the GM staff. Guys like Pat Stewart knew Rhule at WCU I think.

Let this be a warning - this problem is not getting fixed this season. Matt Rhule has his hands in almost every position on the staff. The staff is extremely light on NFL experience and it shows on the field every week. We are in for a very, very long season. David Tepper made a huge mistake not firing Rhule and his entire staff last season.

I hope next season this team is coached by an NFL caliber staff. This college experiment was a resounding failure.

It’s true the majority of them are his but these guys would be auditioning for jobs elsewhere or to take over this one and that would benefit us. Firing Rhule and Snow and giving Wilks the Defense and/or HC job would be a huge beneficial change. I also wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Tabor in the interim role to give McAdoo and Wilks more time to be coordinators.

I wouldn’t include Ryan and Holcomb simply because they crossed paths with Rhule during his one year with the Giants. In reality, both of those guys have had more NFL success than Rhule, and Holcomb had some success under Rivera. But yeah, the rest of those college guys are Rhule guys through and through.

You’re right but it would make me feel better. No one actually believes firing Rhule is gonna make the team better this year. New coach, new coaching staff next season.

Actually i do if mcadoo runs it. At least has nfl experience

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
