The defense wasn't elite, but it was far from the problem, this is an odd move.

But one I approve as I thought firing Rhule made the team better and I want to get the #1 pick at this point, this thankfully makes the team a bit worse again lol

We have our qb of the future in Corral. I am not convinced any of these supposedly great prospects will be better than him. Who purposely tanked in the NFL and then were great the next year?

Is this forum just completely made up of bots and teenagers? My lord.

I guess that the friction between Snow and Wilkes must have been true.

I actually think most of the leaks were true. But the fact that there were leaks like this at all shows the real state of things and the disposition of whose in there now.

And how is having the Number 1 pick after having solid pieces in place working out for the Bengals?

Just because it doesn't always work out isn't a reason to not want it to happen for us.

This is a QB league, you won't win without a franchise QB, and the best way to get one is to land a (the) top pick in the draft.  The worst thing that can happen in the NFL is to be stuck in purgatory of drafting in the 8-15 range every season, never bad enough to get a top QB pick, but never good enough to contend, and we've more or less been in that position for the entirety of this franchise's existence.

Cam was a Ferarri that the previous regime used like a Prius and somehow still ran into the ground and ruined, he was our best shot at getting out of that purgatory, but we still never could have back to back winning seasons.

I'm sick of it, I just want to have a consistently good team for once.

And how are the Bengals doing this year. Yeah 2-3.  He had a great rookie year but Baker took Clevelabd to the playoffs as well. Neither Cleveland or the the Bengals have been consistently good. It might take more than a QB alone to turn a team around. But tanking isn't the way to build a consistent team.

It's not an ODD move at all, Snow has been Matt Rhule's defensive coordinator since Temple, we're talkin almost 10 years'ish including the time here.

Snow was never going to stay once Rhule was shown the door, not to mention Rhule will want him for any college opportunities that may / will arise.

I think the requirement to hire coaches with NFL / HC experience was in prep for a day like this, Wilks was a DC and cut his teeth on that side of the ball, and memory serves Al Holcomb has some experience as well.

I don’t think anyone really thought Snow would stick around once Rhule was canned

WOW.

i wonder if he was given the option to stay on and take orders from wilks or walk

All of your posts represent my views in this.

I definitely think Rhule and Snow were a hand in hand deal...  many of us, myself included, felt that once Rhule was gone, whether he resigned or was fired, then Snow consequently would also follow.  Rhule said himself he owed his coaching career to Snow and held him in such high regard...  so, it's not surprising in that sense.

But, this definitely is a bit of a surprise in that Rhule likely isn't assuming a new job until after this season is over, so I'm kind of surprised Snow would go during the season as well...  except, going back to the previous point, I think it's likely he bucked at Rhule being fired, and if the rumors about the problems between he and Wilks are true, I bet he showed his ass with Wilks as a demonstration of loyalty to Rhule, and was thus fired.

Wow.  Quite the soap opera going on here...  And although the defense wasnt bad, I am excited to see a pro style defense again, though.

Prior to Horn breaking his foot we ran Man exclusively.... It's a flop based on players.

Go back to when Snow got here. We have run zone almost exclusively for years. What we did with Horn is run man to man with him against a particular player and play zone shell elsewhere.

Don't worry about them.

They'll be flipping out when we pick Will Anderson or Miles Murphy.

The QB we have in hand is better than a Young and Stroud in the bush. Rhule screwed up evaluation of Corral so yes, you are wise, that MUST take place because they traded up for the guy and he was actually QB1 according to McAdoo, who although isn't the best OC his eye for QB talent is legit.

It wouldn't make any sense not to go ahead and fire that turd Mcadadoodoo now too.

No you can't install a new offense in October. You have to roll with what you have unless you have an offensive head coach who takes over. Given Wilkes is defense that isn't going to happen

I would have fired Mcadoo over Snow, this is interesting.

No. Wilkes is a defensive guy and can lead the defense. If he were an offensive coach he could have fired McAdoo but you don't install a new offense in October. And if you aren't then just let McAdoo sink or swim.
