Could someone give an actual explanation on what makes Tepper such a bad owner other than hiring a bad HC which a ton of other owners also do?!

So I see Tepper getting a lot of hate but I have to say, I think it’s unwarranted. First off, let’s address the biggest elephant in the room. Matt Rhule, as absolutely bad of a head coach he is, I can guarantee that a vast majority if not all owners have hired there own Matt Rhule at one point or another before finally finding their Harbaugh, or Bellicheck or Mcvay. And yes, $70 million was a joke of a contract but at the end of the day, it didn’t effect the team’s cap whatsoever so who cares if what Tepper spent his own money on to make a splash?!

So what else?! Replaced grass with turf?! Ok, I mean it’s not ideal but the Rams, Cardinals, Saints, Falcons among others also play on Turf and some of those teams have had sustained success and even won Super Bowls.

Failed to get the rock hill thing done?’ Again, ok but honestly, why do is fans care so much?! It’s not a huge deal.

Players and people that work for him seem to like him ok, he’s not a racist or sexual predator and contrary to rumors and speculation he doesn’t seem to be super meddling like say a Jerry Jones or someone.

Is there something I’m totally missing?

I’m with you. He picked a bad coach. It happens.   Successful people are easy targets for hatred. I like him better than Richardson, that’s for damn sure. At least Tepper admitted his mistake after 2.4 seasons instead of waiting 7+ like Hurney and Rivera

I think it's more so the case of just accepting he's the owner and hoping for the best.  As a fan, unless he's caught doing something awful, he's the owner and you can't do much about it.  So don't waste your time whining about the small stuff.  Definitely put the pressure on him when he makes poor decisions, (Rock Hill fiasco, wrong emphasis of upgrades/improvements) but I don't see a need to incessantly complain that he is the owner. We aren't changing that.

It is what it is.

Exactly, and remember at the time when he took over, we as fans wanted the Anti JR and that’s exactly what he did by making an exciting splash by hiring a college coach. I think he has learned from his mistake

Aside from turning the Panthers into perennial losers and unceremoniously jettisoning the best QB in franchise history? he just comes off as an arrogant narcissist who doesn’t fit the kind of person who should own a professional sports team in the Carolinas. A Pittsburgh personality rubs southern people the wrong way.

Reason for hate per the Huddle :

1,. Tepper's Rich

2. Tepper is wealthy

3. Tepper has money

I'm indifferent with Tepper.  He made a mistake with Rhule and the whole training facility thing was an odd thing.

But what does bug me about him is the lack of communication.  Whether he accepts it or not, he's now a "city leader" of sorts.  A Charlotte/NC/SC influencer.  It'd just be nice if he'd make himself more accessible.  Not saying a weekly meet-n-greet or anything even close, but just speak out occasionally.  Give thoughts.  Give directions.  Give high level ideas and initiatives.

Took the Rams trade but stayed put at 52 and at the top of the 3rd.

    • I mean, first of all, I'm not the one who initially said he was a life long fan, it was in that tweet in the OP. But more importantly, "life long fan" is a relative term, especially for a franchise like the Panthers.  I think anyone who was say, 10-12 or younger when the franchise started, and been a fan since the start, could claim to be a life long fan. I'm 38, been a fan of the team since year 1 even though I'm not even from the Carolinas, after almost 30 years of fandom and following them since the beginning, I have no issue saying I'm a life long Panthers fan. Very possible his dad is say around 40 years old and been a Panthers fan since the start.  And even if he's a little older, if you're a fan of a team for 30 out of your say 45ish years of life... that's "life long" in that instance.
