They have had multiple discussions in the last 24 hours and he said they are on the same page about adjustments that need to be made, so he feels good about that.

This is a big deal because Wilks is a strong defensive mind if nothing else. If he and the OC are agreeing on what needs changing on that side of the ball, that seems like it bodes well for us moving forward. First time I've been excited about this team since 2020.

any thoughts on bringing Luke in?

"As a player or as a coach?"

lol

Yeah that was good.  Loved the part where he talks about the franchise as something he loves and truly cares about, how he was here when we went to the Super Bowl and 3-peated the NFCS, how he knows what it takes to get back there and he wants to get us there.

love what he’s saying and his authenticity.  I sincerely hope he’s learned from his Cardinals head coaching days because that team was truly horrendous.  Having Rosen didn’t help, but he also hired Mike McCoy for OC and wouldn’t let them play music at practice.  Seemed overly strict.

We’ll see how it goes.  Anything is better than Matt fuging Rhule

What did he say?  working...can't listen.

"Ben and I have spoke on several occasions in the last 24 hours. I feel like there are certain things we want to get done schematically that I feel like will give us the opportunity to progress and move forward. Those conversation's have been between he and I. He has been receptive. "

Just posted the same thing in another thread...  Wilks assuming the HC job has me excited for the first time in a very long time.  He's always had something about him - a certain gravitas - that commands respect and admiration, both among fans and players.  And I think a huge thing we were lacking under Rhule was that among other things, but also that the players had lost their competitiveness.  They weren't competing for a full 60 mins...  as cliche as that sounds.  And I think Wilks is a guy that can bring that out of any player.  It's refreshing and  exciting.

Loved the press conference.  He comes off half pissed and has a certitude in what he's doing.  Lets hope he's right.

I like that he seems like he's ready to finally implement things he has maybe suggested all season but been ignored or overridden on. That level of certainty is often good, unless his ideas are poo and he can't come off of them when they show to be. It'll mean the difference in staying in a HC position, for sure.

100% agreed. He's that classic "I'll crawl a mile through broken glass for you" type of coach. He is going to liven the team up if nothing else. Seeing intensity again would be a welcome change

Wilks is the man. Unlikely but I'd love for him to stick around as secondary/defensive pass game coordinator under the new coach. I also want him to do well as HC but we need to tank for a QB at this point so torn there.

It's a fairly deep class after the big 3.

I love the confidence. You can tell he knows what he wants to do. He has talked to McAdoo, got rid of Snow, and spoken to Fitt and is going over the roster to make the internal moves they think will help. These next 3 games are very important. I wonder if he has been taking note in preparation for this, based on the rumors he was informed this could be happening to bring him over from Missouri.

not gunna lie.  as much as i like wilks.  i hope this team fails and we start fresh with a new coach and QB.  ive had enough of being in purgatory in the middle

We are starting PJ.  Then Darnold when he gets better.  Hope or not this team is failing regardless.

I think Darnold will come back and we end up with 5ish wins as long as we dont lose too many folks to injury

Plenty of teams have shown you don't need a top 3 pick to get a good QB. Losing out means our roster is much further away than I hoped and definitely much more than just a QB away. If Wilks can actually turn the team around I'll be excited. There's no guarantee that losing out and drafting a QB top 3 doesn't end up just where we are anyway.  We already have two QBs selected at the top of the draft on the roster, lol.

For sure.  It's what happend in Arizona. Cards fan hate him cause he did stupid shlt but was certain he was right.  He  and the GM selected Josh Rosen with the 10 pick in the draft.  It was a disaster over there.  Total shlt show.

Must be someone Carolina is eying at first pick overall..

Dude is straight out the worst coach I've ever seen in any sport.

The man who got us Kyler Murray. He was good for that at least.
