A big bright spot amidst all the noise.. It looks like we are set at O line for the foreseeable future

The oldest player on our O line is 28 and that’s Elfein, the rest of the O line are 26-27 with the exception of Icky who is only 22 or so.

They have played extremely well this year both in run blocking and pretty darn solid at pass protection also. Imagine if we had just an average QB behind this line to go along with our stout running game. 
 

You have to think that a combination of being set at O line for atleast a few years and having the no 1 pick to pick any QB you want from this class, that has to be very attractive to any HC candidate. Especially if we hire an offensive mind.,

I think we need a better center. I would love to see what Bozeman can do. Elf always is on the ground. I hope we don’t end up giving him a big contract just because he played okay at center this year. Hopefully Moton is just injured and will get out of this flunk. I would love to see what Mays can do. Maybe we can trade Corbett and replace him with Mays? I also wouldn’t mind seeing what Christensen can do at RT. Maybe we could get a first round pick for Moton and move Christensen to RT? We need to get younger and cheaper if we are rebuilding.

      Oh, oh. I see what you are saying. Yeah but not all of those were draft for draft replacements. Jones was a dumpster dive. The overall point I was making is that it is becoming more common to see this quick pivots as people realize their mistakes. It happens with a lot of busts historically at QB.  IDK about "most teams" have fast, capable WR's. It's a mixed bag across the league. There are the Hopkins, Evans, etc that aren't sub-4.5 guys and are still star players.

      So if it comes down to that, and it played out, we could be looking at a post June 1 designation for his 5th year money at best. Assuming it is guaranteed which I don’t know.     13.25 mil cap hit in 2027 and 2028.   I have to admit I never really went into the angles after picking up the option. I have always been don’t do it.    So, you pay him the 12 mil for year 4 and if you want out when they go into extension lobbying you trade or cut.  Is that conceivable?   The thing about trading is, I believe all the guaranteed money hits your cap right then. That’s 26.5 million if correct.  So if they picked up the 5th, this would cover the ‘we want out’ expenses from our end, after year 4.   Correct?
