We pretty much have to take a RB on day 2 in the draft, right?

Yea if we can get a really good one in the second then absolutely. Foreman is meh, not a starter and Chuba is trash. Also depends on the coach and OC we get. If it’s one of these guys that can squeeze yards out of mediocre backs like New Orleans did for so many years before Kamara because of the scheme then just pick one in the third or later that fits the physical traits that system needs.

Best teams in football:

Eagles - Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell

Bills - Devin Singletary, Zach Moss, James Cook

Vikings - Dalvin Cook

Chiefs - CEH, Pacheco, McKinnon

Chargers - Austin Ekeler

Ravens - Dobbins

Bengals - Mixon

A handful+ of 2nd rounders, only 1st rounder is CEH who has been teetering on bust territory.  I'd take a stab at one in the mid rounds.  Don't mind the double dip strategy, maybe a 3rd & 5th type deal.  But with our 2nds--I'm thinking WR, DL.

That last part should be a prerequisite for any coach we are looking to hire, being able to use run concepts and mid level RBs to effectively run the ball is one of the most important tools for a coach today.  The teams that are winning rarely are doing it with first round RBs.

Why?

Have you seen some of the names starting and being productive as of late? Investing early draft capital into RB is a mistake for rebuilding teams. Plenty of options either via FA or late rounds.

Dameon Pierce - 4th

Rhamondre Stevenson - 4th

Khalil Herbert - 6th

Jeff Wilson - UDFA

Aaron Jones - 5th

All of them are light years below Cmac.

You dump a star you have to replace him with a star or you go backwards

Yea all the guys mentioned so far are JAGs at best, some are trash. We’re not going to get an equal to CMC, that player doesn’t exist, but we should be able to get a GOOD dependable guy in the second or third. I’d love to luck into a Lesean McCoy or … name escapes me but that guy from the Bears whose RB receptions record CMC broke. Both were second round guys.

Yea I agree. But the Giants, Cowboys and Chiefs are all winning right now with first round RBs. No single position is REQUIRED to win except QB, but the more weapons you give your QB the better he’ll look.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
