A young innovative defensive minded head coach.    Not sure where you are trying to go with this

as for young, Sean is 48    Wilks is 53

Wilks knows what needs to be done  he knows he needs a brilliant OC and he knows that’s not his specialty but he knew enough to make the OC do what needed to be done with the team he inherited   He also knew Foreman needed touches he wasn’t getting when Rhule was here

what I really like about him is if you are one the 53 man squad, you are going to participate and he did what needed to be done with Robbie last year

while he was with the Cardinals, he wanted the right QBs in the draft  the GM disagreed

the man is no dummy

my point is simply I do not believe that every defensive coach is Ron Rivera or every offensive coach is Shanahan

if these players continue to play for Wilks, he has earned that job and if Tepper is smart, he will focus on the planned improvements in detail for the next 3 years   I do not believe he did that with Rhule as hard as it to believe

Savannah State - 5-6

NFL - 4-14

Good dude, players like him, gotta let season play out and see ehat he does. If he doesn't get a job here maybe somewhere else but ues these records speak for themselves. Hes better than McDaniels

Pair Wilks with an innovative OC, and let's see where we go. Wilks has been around a while. I'm sure he has a few connections to aid in his quest. Why not?

My biggest worry is that he is competent enough to be retained, we blow our chances at a franchise QB in the draft and we get Rivera 2.0 as a HC with no back to back winning seasons and years of musical chairs in the QB room until he's fired.

Bring up the worst case scenario so you can fret over it. Not how I would do it. But hey, it's a free world.

There is another path as well. Wilks, McAdoo and the team progress througout the year. By years end we are a feared team. Use our draft capital to draft our QB. Let the Kid and Corral duke it out. Winner winner, chicken dinnerr.

One thing i know about football is this, there are NO sure things…….lets just enjoy the moment.  Let the season play out, let’s see how he and his team finish up!  No guarantees that Wilks will be great just like theirs no guarantees on the young offensive minded coaches being great……. Just got to roll the dice!

Wilks good local guy and all, just has a rhule deal about humps as well. Plenty of guys out there are great OL/ST/DC/LB/___ and just not good head coaches. Nothing wrong with being a great DB coach.

Im fully on the Shane Steichen spaceship.

hate on..

I think the franchise is about to sell out to draft a QB in the first round until they find one. It was so f*cking stupid to pass on Justin Fields.

Lol blow our chances at a franchise QB in the draft ..

Like a Wentz, Goff, Darnold, Mayfield, Rosen, RG3, Haskins, Mac Jones, Fields, Tre Lance, Trevor Lawrence lmao

Trevor Lawrence is 5-20

Odds are if we hire a new HC he'll be a bust, and that if we draft a QB high - he will bust

You stick with Wilks who was asst. Head Coach in this franchise most successful stretch and it is an easy decision

Even if we do well down the road and he hires a good, innovative OC, he’ll get poached by a different team for a HC opportunity.  Then he’ll have to hire someone else.  Rinse and repeat

    • Yep. It was an obvious red flag that a lot of people ignored. The results/scores in preseason don’t matter, but individual performance very much does and individually, we looked like the least talented team in the league and it carried over.
    • Sorry, but in 2015, we didn’t look like poo to the extent of 2023. People who said it’s just preseason were completely wrong. Simple as that. 2015 was a veteran lead team. It was Cam’s 5th year and Luke’s 4th. Even our OL was 80% the same (added Oher) as the great run to finish 2014 with a playoff win. That year can be labeled as preseason doesn’t matter because I’m sure we rested vets and well, Ron/Mike weren’t putting in special plays, etc. I absolutely don’t recall a bunch of us saying that Turner was getting killed on one on ones or that Luke was completely out of position or that Norman was hurt again but probably fine. The only thing that was right about the 2023 preseason is that the minority of us who saw it, were correct that we A) should have been making Young and others play 100% of the reps as there was nothing to hide and B) the preseason means nothing was a bunch of BS trying to stay optimistic when it was obvious that we had way less good talent than the rest of the NFL.
    • You are telling me Paul Maurice is a better coach than Rod??? Yes!!!  It’s because he plays a better system and has a better goalie.   Our system sucks in playoffs and he refuses to roll with Koochie. Dallas cowboys level poo
