Derrick Brown is really starting to dominate

I know I make a thread about him almost weekly, but he was noticeable yesterday, and he pulled off something I haven't seen a Panthers DT do something like this since the Kris Jenkins era.

Blows up the center, tackles the RB just to prove a point, then trips up Mariota on the keeper. Insane play.

He played extremely hard yesterday.  The effort was amazing

That play where he basically jumped on the guy's back and rode him to the ground was crazy! Glad to see him living up to his initial hype. Year three seems to be the magic number for DTs hitting their prime.

Young defensive lineman has his best year in year 3.......

That is probably closer to the norm than the guy who is elite his rookie year.

Starting to really show what everyone at Auburn was hollering about that draft buildup.

He had another play late in the game on 3rd down where we pushed his man towards the open lane the rb was hitting and one arm tackled him. 

I can gladly say...I knew it.

An extension needs to happen anyway to help out with next year's cap.  Fortunately for us Brown is earning it.

Brown needed to justify his draft selection this year......and he has.  He is one of the few guys who managed to show improvement under Rhule, which is some pretty rare air.

Whodathunkit???  Our lines on both sides of the ball are stepping up, or at least chunks of them are becoming a strength.  That has not happened since 2015, and even then our OL somehow performed above what we could have hoped for.

Eh, he showed improvement once Pasqualoni came on board. While this year did technically fall somewhat under Rhule, I'm not giving him any credit since Brown regressed hard last year and it took actual NFL caoches to turn him around.

Yeah, I am not trying to give Rhule credit.....for this or anything.  Credit to Brown to improving despite him.

It is not unusual for players to fall back in their second year.  The dreaded "sophomore slump."  Rhule and company just watched that in bewilderment, not having any idea what to do.  Real coaches can look at the tape and figure out what to work on instead of doing more of the same and expecting different results.

Even Pasqualoni was probably despite Rhule, not because of him.
