I’m starting to turn on Fitterer

Trading Moore for a first round pick was a nonstarter. Not only is he worth more than that from a market perspective, when you consider the cap hit that came with it for us, it just didn't make any sense. So, no, Fitt shouldn't have done that.

I think he absolutely should have pulled the trigger on Burns, but Burns is young with plenty of trade value. His stock didn't start or end at the trade deadline.

Re burns:  Once he is extend his value goes down.  The Rams wanted him cheap.  I seriously doubt we are getting 2 firsts and a second in the offseason and furthermore why would fitt decide to trade him in the off season?

In regards to the moore deal, I said it was worth a debate not the slam dunk that the burns deal was and if it ends up being a top 10 pick i think it blows away moores value then.   As a fanbase we tend to overvalue our players.  Like Burns, moore is good but he is not a game changer.

signing Jackson/Thomas- these guys are nowhere close to the contracts they received

Not trading Moore- a solid #2 who isn’t a stud #1 WR to a team that is sitting at 3-5. We basically would have had a top 12 pick for Moore

I agree with you 100% except for Jackson and Moore. I have no issue with either contract. Jackson is a solid CB, and while a top 12-15 pick would be nice, Moore will be a huge asset to whoever our QB is next year. The rest of our WR squad is raw AF (except Higgins, who has been an afterthought all season).

It's hard to say if it would have been a top 10 pick or not because they are playing without him on their roster vs with him.  They probably beat the Lions last Sunday if they have Moore on their team.  It's also hard to really say how good Moore can be without seeing him play with a legit QB and OC.  I'm not a fan of trading a proven young WR (on a decent deal) for a first that might be a legit WR or might be another Benjamin while taking that cap hit.  The Burns trade is a different story (especially when they added this year's 2nd).

Very reasonable take nicely done. At the end of it all this ire over draft picks boils down to probabilities. For the time being Fitterer is spotty at best and we know the Panthers overall draft history is anything but fantastic. Hell we're already banking on hitting big on a QB in the draft which is a tall order to begin with but some folks here want to make it QB DE and WR. Good luck with all that 😂

We'll just have to agree to disagree. A young, productive proven pass rusher will always be highly valued. Dude hasn't even hit his prime yet.

He was valued by one desperate team that wanted his cheap(2M) contract for this year. His salary goes up to 16M next year. That’s not a big value at all. Why would a team deal 3 picks going forward for the right to pay a player more than he’s worth.

Trading DJ wasn't happening because of the cap hit.  And assuming the GB pick is top 10 is also flawed.  DJ could have been the difference in GB making the playoffs this year.  If Rogers has a legit weopon, they could be dangerous down the stretch.

Same is possible with Burns.  Burns on the Rams may have been enough to get them into the playoffs in the coming years, making those future picks less valuable.  Fitts may have thought it would be difficult to find another Burns in the 22-28 pick range.  It's always risky betting on the demise of another team.

Having said that - I would have done the Burns deal in a heartbeat.  It seems like a real missed opportunity to me, given our now extended timeline.

But those CMC, Robbie, and Daley trades were way better than I expected.  I'm optimistic we will be able to improve the team through the draft over the next couple of years.  Especially if we are picking top 3.

Ultimately Fitterer will be judged not by an individual trade but by wins and losses.  He'll ride or die with the next head coach.

That is my hurdle on figuring out what was Fitterer and what was The Process.  That line is just unrecognizable until October 10.

Even after October 10, we have no idea what role Tepper played in the decisions leading to the CMC deal or Burns non-deal.

Organizationally, we are a mess.

These are facts. The problem might just be David Tepper simple as that

At first I thought, wow what a breath of fresh air in comparison to Hurney / Gettleman

Horn pick, very high for a corner and the majority of folks on here wanted Parsons. Micah is on his way to being DPOY in year 2

Trading for Gilmore/Henderson- this team was not ready to compete. Gilmore came as a 1 year rental for no reason and Henderson is a JAG. That’s costly draft capital

signing Jackson/Thomas- these guys are nowhere close to the contracts they received

Not trading Moore- a solid #2 who isn’t a stud #1 WR to a team that is sitting at 3-5. We basically would have had a top 12 pick for Moore

Not trading Burns- a guy who is Osi Umenyoria who will be paid as the highest paid DE here soon and has never posted double digit sacks. Getting 2 firsts and a second from a team that’s falling off the Cliff talent wise and under .500, this would have been two top 12 picks and a high second for the Panthers

I give him a pass on Mayfield- we didn’t spend a lot on that experiment

i give him an A on Eke

overall my opinion of Fitterer is unfortunately fading as the next coming of Ozzie Newsome and more so of a Thomas Dimitrioff

It took that long?  I’ve been to see him go since last year when he kept trading good picks for more Bargain  level basement crap.

You mean to tell me people want to talk about how we possibly took a corner over a young franchise QB?

"You mean to tell me people want to talk about how we possibly kept Brian Burns over two 1st round picks and a second round pick"?  I can do that too...what do you think those people upset about not trading Burns wanted to potentially use those two 1st round picks for?  Hint: I bolded it in your post.  Those draft picks we gave up are ironically the going rate for even trading for an established franchise QB lol.

Yeah I've already seen the schemes some fans here have cooked up for us to make a run at Lamar lol. We could have 4 or 5 first round picks that still isn't going to be enough to convince a general manager to part with a 25 year old MVP quarterback because at the end of the day he knows the odds of replacing that level of talent and it will likely end with him being shown the door if he makes that deal.

Who he drafts at QB will be his legacy here.

I kinda think its more of a HC/staff hire legacy..

I sorta agree with kat, not moving BB for two 1s, now 2nd, and ankers?? while not having to buy 30 per?? take it and run to the hills.... but BB wants to be here, so hometown discount, right?

    • They made sure to not give him any competition at QB with that lame ass UDFA selection. I swear they pick the tallest shittiest qb's in camp to make it look like height is not the problem lol
