Draft position updates

I think we have pretty much guaranteed ourselves of finishing outside the top five in the draft. Stroud and young won't drop that far, so I guess might as well try and win out and make the playoffs and get curbstomped by 30 against a team that isn't the broncos, Steelers, or NFC South team...

How so?  I get this is a QB driven league, but a solid roster with a game manager QB can be a playoff team.  A solid QB with a dogsh!t roster around him doesn't go very far.  Everyone wants a freaking prima donna QB nowadays.

Because with a game manager you can't rely on him to win you games and there will be a lot of those, we should of loss type of wins. Happened a lot during the Delhomme years. Guy was a combination Game Manager/Gun Slinger.

That said, we already see what happens when you have a pure game manager, you get the Titans. Good enough to get to the playoffs, not good enough to get to the Super Bowl. Because you will always meet a team that can exploit your biggest weakness: The inability of you QB to be able to score you a ton of points, especially if it comes to a shootout where you need to throw the ball.

This team may be able to make the playoffs if a QB plays a game manager role, but in the playoffs we will always meat teams that will force our GM QB to throw the ball and score more TDs.

Last time a GM QB had success in the playoffs was the 49ers make the Super Bowl and that was a freakishly good defense and running game. But we all saw what happened in the Super Bowl. As so as the 49ers went down and Jimmy needs to actually no be a game manager he failed.

TLDR: Game Manager QBs can get you to the playoffs but rarely will they have success in the playoffs.

Find my 🍆 to suck my dude. I'm not going to be happy for the failure of this team. Not going to be happy losing a great pick.

Having fun is preferable to being a miserable bastard usually.  NFL doesnt actually matter dude.  But I'll suck yours if you suck mine loser.

After 5 losing seasons, MAKING the playoffs is a feat unto itself.  You seem extremely unimpressed.  So in your mind we draft a rookie QB and we are instant Super Bowl contenders?  Who is this magic man???

Actually make the playoffs while looking like you can actually make the Super Bowl. This team would limp into the playoffs only to get curb stomped by the first team we played. Make the playoffs isn't impressive, especially this year. We are essentially a 7th seen team that would only be a 4th seed because the NFC South is sucky this season.  Of course I could see us lucking out and facing the Giants. All I care about is winning the Super Bowl. Making the playoffs isn't going to impress me at all.

Also I don't think we are Super Bowl contenders with a rookie QB but we are definitely not Super Bowl contenders if we plan to build a team around our QB being a game manager.

All I care about is going to the Super Bowl. That is it.

I think everyone would. From 2011-2017 there was zero in season draft discussion because we had our QB and made a bunch of playoff appearances.

That said, I’m envious of teams like the Jaguars, Chargers, Eagles, Miami, Cincy and maybe Chicago because they got their QB in the past 3 drafts even though 1 of the 3 may have no franchise QBs. We need that QB as we won’t be playing the Broncos every week.

And yet, none of those four teams has a guaranteed winner yet, except for maybe Cincy. That Superbowl appearance has clout, after all.

The Eagles look like they have their man, but the cold winds of winter have a way of changing reality. Tua has found new life with a new coach in Miami, but is it just first blush love affair there? Time will tell.

Chicago, the Chargers and Jacksonville... well, let's win something and maybe then they've got something. Until then, who knows?

Quarterback is the most important position in any team sport in the world. Playing it in the NFL is the hardest job ever invented in sports, and the pool of capable guys available each season is tiny. Using a top pick on a QB is really a "shoot the moon" kind of effort and to me, I just hate to see us pass on some more surefire things that could be available.

    • With Horn I would gladly over pay... via the TAG.   I would take his 5th year option and TAG and TAG again. Dude is a monster but I dont want to pay for a monster with as few starts as he has.
    • If Bryce plays like last year, we will be picking high and can move on.  But I am curious to see how people on here are when he sees success and becomes the guy, if he does. It's almost like people want him to fail. He's got that Panther jersey on and a good attitude. I am rooting for him, as you should.  Last year the coaching, OL, and weapons were abysmal, and it put him in a tough spot. He did not play well either, but we saw glimpses, and its a full team sport. I choose to go into this year excited under a fresh new regime and a top prospect from 365 days ago at the helm with new OL and weapons. Whatever happens, happens. Let's have some fun with it.
    • Maybe. You know he wanted that OC gig each time, I believe the last time they even stated he interviewed for the role. This was during the whole youth movement that mccvay started as well.  Honestly I was hoping Seattle would have cut ties with pete, he would have been great here in a top mentor role. I don't think its talked about enough, they did Pete wrong. He made them a great NFL team for the first time in their history and gave them a SB. He's still in great shape by all reports and they just decided to go young. They even removed most of his pictures and quotes in the building. Sorta like what the pats did to bill, but waay worse.  I guess I have too much loyalty for the new times, no chance either should been to out for retirement..
