Young and Stroud are the number 1-2 of this class. Just like Lawrence and Fields were 1-2 of that class before everyone got prospect fatigue on them and decided to trash Fields before the draft. I’m sure the Jets and 49Ers would redo that if they could.

Stroud is the #1 QB and Heisman front runner. The poster I quoted was acting like it's Young, then Stroud. I'm not talking about previous drafts.

Right now, we are 6th in the draft order.

Three teams ahead of us, (Chicago, Denver, and Pittsburgh) won't be taking a quarterback.

The Texans probably will.   Detroit is up in the air.  They currently have one of the top passing offenses in the league, so they may decide that they are good enough.

Also, even if we fall further back in the draft, three of the teams behind us are unlikely to take a qb.  Of course, some team (Falcons, Colts) could trade up I suppose.

He may still be QB1 foe this draft (depending upon whom youj talk to), but not really the frontrunner anymore.

After watching both Stroud & Young over the past month, I'd certainly much rather fight for a playoff spot that to "fight" for the right to draft them.

Not saying they aren't talented or could be good NFL QB's, but no scout or talent evaluator in the league could say with a straight face that tanking for these guys is justified like you could have made the argument for regarding Andrew Luck, Joe Burrow, even Cam.

IMO, there's a much, much better chance these 2 follow a Jameis Winston/ Marcus Mariota path than both or either developing into a franchise QB.

I don't think Bryce Young is any better of a prospect than Tua, and I would have rather drafter Justin Fields than CJ Stroud.

Ohio State has been a great program under 4 different coaches over the past 20 years or so.

Name their best NFL QB ever.

I'll wait over here.

I understand your argument.  It's a very common argument.

But I think the causality claim of OSU QB, therefore wont be successful in the NFL is a bit illogical.

I am by no means stating that CJ Stroud will be successful in the NFL, I am however, stating that just because he went to OSU does not mean he wont be a successful franchise QB.

Who was the best nfl qb that played for Texas tech before mahomes? What about Wyoming before Josh allen? LSU before Joe Burrow? Oregon before Justin Herbert? Cal before Aaron Rodgers? Michigan before Brady?

Only 4 QB's drafted #1 or #2 have made it to the SB since 2010.  Cam, Burrow, Goff and Wentz as a non-starter.  I'm good with taking BPA.

Peyton Manning went three times? Eli Manning? Matt Stafford?

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
