Wait till we win the division and our 3 wild card games next year are Buffalo, KC and Philly. That’s what we get next year with a 1st place schedule.

Damn. Didn't even think about that either. Yeah, it's best for us to miss the playoffs. Fug that

The entire staff is not good enough. As much as some people, like our faithful leader, want to blame only Rhule, there’s very little evidence that anyone else left wasn’t a big part of all these terrible decisions on and off the field.

Wilks looks ok because we are 4-5 with him but we are 0-2 (one humiliating) against above .500 teams and our wins are against 7-7, 6-8, 5-9 and 4-10 teams  with Seattle as the only road win. We’ve also lost the other 3 games to 5-9, 5-9 and 4-9 teams.

There is enough things to warrant Wilks not getting the job but you cannot use the schedule against him. He didn't decide what team we play or what their record will be as does any other coach.

He has currently gone 4-3 against .500 teams or below. He is 0-2 against better competition. He started with a 1-5 record gifted to him in a shitty division. All the while using a team he did not build.

He's old school and he's not completely wrong in his approach given the circumstances.  To win consistently in this league you have to at least be able to run the ball and have a good defense.

But you also have to have a balanced offense to be able to keep the opponent guessing.  You want to stop the run? Go ahead. We will pick you apart through the air. Want to shut down the pass? Have at it. We will run it down your throat. Until we have the personal to do that we are stuck with what you are seeing now.

To be fair, Wilks can only work with what he has. That being said, he's lost games that he shouldn't have, and I have a hard time believing he'll be able to hang with the best coaches of the league because he's just too conservative and dogmatic in his offensive approach. Talent will likely only take you so far; you must be able to make adjustments---offensively and defensively---when your game plan isn't working, and I personally think that you must think outside the box when warranted, or at least play to the situation at hand.

There’s a scenario where we clinch the division against the Bucs on New Years day and have nothing to play for in New Orleans.

Here is that scenario

Falcons lose at Ravens

Saints lose at Browns

Panthers beat Lions

Bucs lose at Cardinals

if those four things happen this week a panthers win vs the Bucs gives the panthers the division and an essential bye week in week 18 against the Saints.

I do believe that there is a vast majority of Huddlers who seem to have forgotten just how young this team is. It takes a while to find out who you are. But patience is not a Huddle virtue.

Just think what it will be like next year if we get a rookie QB, and a new coach? The losing will be epic.

Yes...like, wtf is the problem with wanting to see january football? Like fug, y'all act like winning is a bad thing. FFS.

We are a very young team just trying to learn to win. Every win builds just a little bit more confidence. It takes time to put it all together. Unfortunately, time is not in the Huddle dictionary.

Is this a serious post? How many 5-11 or 5-12 seasons do you guys need to sit through before you figure out winning meaningless games in December doesn’t mean sh!t?

Is that you, Matt Rhule?

I am not a pro-tanker, but after watching yesterday, I just want the season to end.

Even if we get in, we will get smoked at home by a competent Team. Struggling against Trubisky at home with what was on the line is all I need to see.

The Ravens and Bengals are a better litmus test for us and we did not fare well. Defenses are now stacking the box, and are daring Darnold to beat us.

Being in the top-5 and getting a shot at Young, Stroud, Carter, Anderson or Murphy is huge.
