There were people on this board who were not for Hackett before the Rhule hiring

whoever made the Wilson decision is the culprit

Wilson has never been a system Qb, he is improvisation, not precision

hackett is precision.  Rodgers greater than Wilson

Hackett has also struggled at just about every non-Green Bay stop(save for one out of three years in Jacksonville).

I think people gave Hackett way too much credit for something he deserved very little of in Green Bay.

I think Wilks is too smart to want to jump into that mess.

I'd hope so, but if that's the best offer he has as a head coach and there's a pile of money there, he should take it.

They've got a lot to work with on the field as it stands now. The cupboard is a bit bare for down the road, but the Broncos are a team that needs motivation and cohesion more than anything. Wilks can provide that with room to spare. He could go a long way just by simply finding the right guy to work out a game plan that Wilson can make good use of.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Payton had this to say when asked about Wilson’s pronounced struggles in 2022: “Well, there’s a lot of things that they’re not doing well, and there’s probably a lot of mud on a lot of people’s hands, including himself.”

That doesn’t exactly sound like someone who is chomping at the bit to coach a 34-year-old quarterback who bears little resemblance, at least right now, to the worthy NFC adversary Wilson was to Payton’s Saints during the quarterback’s days in Seattle.

Because the Saints own Payton’s rights through 2024, a team wanting to hire Payton would likely have to surrender draft compensation.

Do the Broncos even have enough draft picks left to do something like that?

    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
    • Dude you are smart fan. 3 on 0 breakaways won’t matter who is in net. You gotta be better on this one.
    • Raiders are gonna get a good one. Rather have Mendoza fly out and play for the Panthers tomorrow than Bryce
