Our version of being like Dallas?

Most, if not all of us, love to remind Cowboy fans (when they spout about all their Super Bowl wins) that their last trophy came in ... 1996. That's longer than some of you have been alive lol. "fIvE rINgS! HoW bOuT dEM CoWboYS!11".

But today, I was reading that we are working out Norman. ESPN added this to the article:

Quote

Josh Norman, a key piece of the team's 2015 drive to the Super Bowl when interim coach Steve Wilks was in charge of the secondary, tried out for the team Monday with the expectation to sign and play at least a minor role against the Buccaneers with the division title up for grabs.

We have a handful of posters excited about Josh's return in the Josh Norman thread today. But ... um ... 2015 was a long ass time ago. Not Cowboys Long of course ... but still long. And obviously we always bring up Cam's MVP season, Luke, Olsen, etc. every single year here.

So my question is ... when do we need to stop talking about 2015 like it was yesterday? Yes, Norman was on that team. Neat. Now he's that much older. Yes, Cam was the best QB in the NFL that year. Neat. Now he's not even in the NFL. Yes, Luke and Greg were elite as FUG in 2015. Neat. Now one is an announcer and the other probably still has headaches.

At some point, other fans are going to start reminding us just how long ago 2015 was.

Im old school, so i think of dallas vs carolina in 96 terms.......

With all the "well playoffs, just going lost, smooth brain talk" Ive been trying to tell people to look back to 96 and the playoffs against the blowboys.....

Besides the eagles, none of the nfc playoff teams are scary....(tho SF getting QB magic is another)... panthers can beat the blowboys...

Who talks about 2015 like it was yesterday? How old are you? 7 years isn't really all that long, honestly.

In football years it's like a generation.  How many guys from that 2015 team are still in the NFL. Not on the Panthers, just still playing in the NFL.  Just FYI it's less than half.

Just enjoy the nostalgia. Newsbreak: we're 6-9 only in the playoff hunt because we play in an all time putrid division. We still suck. So just enjoy the fun things. Bringing J-No back is fun.

I don’t get the incessant need to spout “the Panthers suck.” It’s like people cannot see the difference in the team now and the team under Rhule. The team under Rhule sucked (1-4 record). The team under Wilkes does not suck (5-5 record).

Denver sucks. Arizona sucks. Chicago sucks. Houston sucks. Despite its shortcomings, the current Panthers team is not great, maybe average, but they don’t suck.

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
