I think the line of thinking for the benching is they dont want him to get hurt, thus the 40.4mill is on the books for next.

I just have no desire to see another vet bridge qb come in here to wetnurse a rookie until he's ready. Especially if it costs more draft picks and top 10 qb money. If you are going to go that route just draft a qb and try to convince Sam to stick around another season while they get the rookie ready for 2024.

Carr is better than any QB that (we know of) in the division next year. Atl, TB and NO all will be scrambling for help. 

I am tired of a new one every season, myself, but he could be a fit depending on the plan.
