Who knew getting the ball out quick and being comfortable in the pocket would equal success at the QB position?! I hope this is the Sam Darnold that we see going forward whether his services are retained here, or he gets a gig elsewhere. I would love to see him get a couple of his favorite WR targets at SC in Carolina, but I'll settle for just solid TE out of the draft as well.

It appears many of the modern NFL’s successful teams have a game changing, pass catching TE on their roster.

 

We need one badly if our offense is going to compete going forward.

He will probably go to another team next year and have to start over in gaining that trust with his new teammates.  Sometimes this issues just boil down to something as simple as trust.

I love personal redemption stories.  Sam may never put a team on his back and singlehandedly carry it to a win but, subject to laying an egg in the last two games, if he continues to play like this, he could become a competent backup or even a bridge QB for the Panthers.  And, if not here, someone else will give him that opportunity.

Would be a shame to drop kick him to the curb at the end of the season, right when he is figuring out how to win and we now have a real NFL o-line to protect him, and a vastly improving run game to support him.  It would be the Panther thing to do, to release him and he blooms [modestly] somewhere else.  His ceiling may be a lite beer version of Geno Smith or Ryan Tannehill but, for a backup or bridge QB, that would be enough.

So, two more games left to evaluate his progress.

The most impressive change I've seen is sometimes when there is an outside pressure he is stepping up and actually climbing the pocket instead of totally panicking and his footwork going everywhere.   He definitely still has some frantic feet every once in a while but not like before.  He is learning to trust the oline a little more.

Thought this was cool.

 

 Darnold knows his life has been easier because of the Panthers' run game, and the protection he's getting up front.

So Thursday, all of the offensive linemen came in to find gifts from their quarterback. Each of the linemen got a gas-powered pizza oven, and all the accessories that the big men might want to keep themselves fed.

      Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
