Me too. I expect it at some point. I hope it isn’t today.

I remember hearing a story from decades ago where a HS player died instantly on the field, and the medics pretended to do CPR etc because they didn’t  want the crowd to know they saw someone die.

Always wondered what the NFL would do.

You may be referring to Phil Hughston, who died from injuries at Garinger High School in 1971.  The field is named after him.  His brother Chuck is married to my wife's cousin.

He required CPR, so this is normal. Anyone receiving CPR has to be intubated.

The best new information is that he's alive.

It’s f*cking horrible. He might be alive but he was given CPR for almost 10 minutes meaning that’s 10 minutes his brain and other organs might have not been getting oxygen. Being intubated means a host of other pathogens can get into your body in an already weakened state. It’s so awful and am praying for that man and his family. This is just terrible.

Based on the most recent US Commotio Cordis Registry data, 58% of individuals have survived a commotio cordis episode in recent years. Overall, survival trends following exercise- or sports-related sudden cardiac arrest from all causes in young athletes is improving.

Goodell. The NFL's policy on these situations has already been posted. It's his call.

right, not sure what's hard about this. As long as there are no safety complications for fans or players associated with announcing the cancellation quickly (no idea what those would even be, but just saying), no reason at all to wait this fuging long. disgusting

Wow.....Those fans who were still sitting and ONLY GOT UP AFTER THE Public Address announcment came through that the game was called.....Those fans SUCK.

PERIOD.

They may have had less of an idea what’s going on than we do. May have been waiting for an announcement on the player.

It was frustrating that it took that long to announce it, but they all knew it was postponed pretty quickly.

only because the players/coaches refused to play. or that's how the NFL has now made this look. which is absolutely pathetic.

    • Number 9  Carolina Panthers  Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, produced career highs in completion percentage (63.6%), passing yards per game (188.2) and passing touchdowns (23) in 2025. However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup. • This is why we need the Bank of America Stadium Ballroom.
    • That thread has all the huddle legends either posting in it or mentioned in it. I remember everyone of those folks and I truly miss seeing them post here. This place was so much better with them here.
