I thought intubated folks had to be put in a coma and kept in that state?  Its not like the guy even if improving is going to sit up in bed or anything as long as he is intubated.

Being intubated is rough. Yes he has to be in a medically induced coma and sometimes given a paralytic drug to keep them from moving depending on the type of injury. And then you can get other illnesses like pneumonia because you are intubated and all these other illnesses can walk right into your lungs. This young man has a loooong road ahead either way.

I am fine with the NFL waiting 30-45 minutes to make the official call.  As long as they eventually make the correct call.

As far as the league telling players they have five minutes, I want to see some proof that was said and that it came from the league.  If there is some, then someone deserves to get called out.  But until that proof is forthcoming, it's just the usual misinformation that occurs in an emergency situation.

This man died on the field.  His heart stopped.  I don’t give a damn about this game being played but the NFL will have to make a decision here.  That is first.

As to this game…I would honestly give both teams a win and move on without playing it.  Have the players union and owners agree to it and move on.  I cannot imagine actually playing this game.

The quote I read is Vincent said he didn't know where the "5 min" thing came from and nothing like that ever crossed his mind to say in the first place.

Probably from the same people that are always wanting to point fingers and stir the pot after something bad happens.

When a terrible and shocking event occurs, rumors and accusations fly.  Someone says something offhand, and it builds and spreads like wildfire.  It will take several days before the truth or at least part of it, comes out.  And even then, some won't believe it.

I suppose the issue is going to be, once he gets his breathing in order, how long was his brain deprived of oxygen.  Pray for a normal life moving forward I am scared for him and his family.

I will be pulling for Buffalo in the playoffs to get him a ring.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
