Plus, it didn't really help that the O-Line then was not-as-good as the O-line was this season.  

Elflien(sp?) being injured (thereby having Bozeman take his place at Center) turned out to be an absolute BOON for this team.

I don't really want to see him at Center anymore, tbh.

When you throw less than 20 times a game and most of your passes are screens or short to intermediate passes that have a high completion rate then yeah, Darnold is efficient.

When you turn the ball over less than you throw TD passes, then yeah.  Darnold is "efficient". 

And I'm saying this based on his season overall (however "smallish sample size" it is)

 

But whatever.... Backup is his only future in this league.  (no sarcasm)

Yep covers all the bases we already know. Sam has arm talent through the roof has the ability to make just about every throw up and down the field when his footwork is crisp and can rocket throws with ease. One of the biggest difference makers is he has been forcing less egregious and dangerous throws. He finally broke that streak against Tampa Bay though. The guy making the video even says the quiet part out loud you guys don't want to address though "it's hard to ignore where most of his production is coming from" ie Foreman and the run game and allowing the play action to open up. When the run game is not firing on all cylinders Darnold cannot win you the game with all that aforementioned arm talent. That's the rub buddy.

I think we (as fans) can say Darnold has significantly elevated his play and was quite above average to very good the last few games (depending on the game)... And STILL think he isn't the answer at QB. I want a franchise guy we build around due to his ability in crunch time to win the game.

All we needed was a ridiculously effective running game and a short leash. Every GMs dream when picking a QB. 

Give him his props for being able to accomplish the most basic standard for his position in the game. Now we can sign a vet who has upside past not being themselves and draft a rookie while a team like the Saints signs Sam in the offseason. That is the triple win this offseason, fooling a divisional rival into signing Sam while brining in a cheap vet to do the same very little and a rookie to finally do things that allow us to use the F word we have missed for years now. Win-Win-Win.

Sam did enough to win those games if the running game wasn’t so abysmal.

I will never understand this Jake Delhomme game manager stuff.  The only thing I can think of is its younger people who look at stats and didnt watch the games.   Before the elbow injury Jake was a gunslinger almost his entire time here.  Our entire offense was basically run, run, play action bomb.

I’d love to see you support that statement. 
 

If I saw correctly, Darnold is averaging 8.8 yards per attempt. 
 

That ranks #2 in the entire league.

Yeah Jake loved to sling it.  He threw interceptions and fumbled at extremely inopportune times as well which is the opposite of what a "game manager" is supposed to do.  We ran a Coryell system that leaned on the running game and then used play action to set up deep bombs.
