I still say Wilks is the best candidate. With a full offseason, I think he could do enough to change this team's culture that we'd be in real playoff contention as early as next season.

Why all the Johnson love? He's got one season of play-calling experience, and even that play-calling couldn't score many points against the Panthers.

I think Wilks could get us in playoff contention. His DNA is too conservative to really put you in contention of being anything special though.

Goff still put up nearly 400 yards and 3 passing TDs on us.  Their run game just didn't show up at all.

Steichen for me, I like Johnson but I would prefer to see him do it a little longer and I dont really love the systems he came up in but I cant deny he did a wonderful job.

Rather have the guy with the track record with helping Develop two of the best QBs in the league.

I'd be happy with Johnson or Steichen, but for some reason, I'm leaning towards Johnson. Maybe UNC is the tiebreaker for me lol.

I do think if it's Johnson I would prefer he get a former HC as his DC. Someone like Vance Joseph (coached with him in Miami). Nugget here, but in 2021, Dom Capers was a Senior Defensive Assistant/Consultant for the Lions, that could be a good potential DC/AHC hire that has a connection to Johnson. Otherwise, there are former HCs that could be available for DC roles (Vic Fangio, Gus Bradley, potentially Raheem Morris if McVay leaves the Rams).
