I still say Wilks is the best candidate. With a full offseason, I think he could do enough to change this team's culture that we'd be in real playoff contention as early as next season.

Why all the Johnson love? He's got one season of play-calling experience, and even that play-calling couldn't score many points against the Panthers.

I agree. My only knock against Wilks was the Bucs game. Changes should've been made on Evans coverage. Yes we were down our top two corners but we never made adjustments to cover him. This can't bleed into next year.

Wilks would be rock bottom fold the franchise up and move it to the UK or St. Louis type of hire.

I wouldnt mind Frank Reich. He is a solid coach who has proven he could win before.

But the move is to hire Ben Johnson, Shane Steichen, or Ken Dorsey. Johnson is my number one choice, but would be happy with the other two. It takes a special talent to make Jared Goff to look like a starting NFL QB.

I have zero interest in Kafka, Mayo, or Moore.

I do like Ryans, but watching Saleh first hand scares me off. This is an offensive league and if you are going to take a chance with a first time head coach, i think it should be someone with an offense background.

Gonna throw a name out there--and you all are going to overreact then I will respond and make you feel silly--maybe change your user profile (again, in some cases)--are you ready?:

David Shaw

Already interviewed by Broncos.  Not your typical college coach--has NFL experience.  Knows player personnel better than some GMs.  Offensive guru, great with QBs.

Pro or con, I don't see Tepper going with another college coach.

I don't either (but the question was "who do you want in Carolina?")  because if it goes wrong, he would be tarred and feathered.  I think Shaw will be a good NFL coach.  I think he made Harbaugh look good (along with Luck) at Stanford.  He knows Xs and Os, he knows offense, and he knows personnel.
I met him on Stanford's campus when I was there for a conference--I was walking with a group of professors by the athletic facility to the SCALE center, and the team was loading the bus to go to the airport--game at Colorado.  He (not an assistant, not a manager) was monitoring the process.  So introduced myself and started talking to him.  Nothing but class.   I would hire the man and forget his former gig--but that is just me.
