Yes , coaching and quarterbacking matters.

trevor Lawrence, with one year of decent coaching is moving toward being that franchise Qb everyone is expecting out of him.
I don’t expect the Jags to go far, but they won that last game when they had to. Baby steps.
I wish it was us taking those baby steps with a potential franchise Qb

If you have a coach and a QB you have the foundation for a contender. Their arrow is definitely pointing straight up.

Jags and Niners here.  The Jags are kind of an underdog story which I love.  Purdy...big time underdog story.  Plus, always pulling for CMC.

Did I mention coaching matters?

I can't root for the 49ers. I have an insufferable 49ers fan buddy. I will never hear the end of it.

This new overtime rules will be an interesting rule change. Seems like it would be advantageous to defer in overtime now. You know you're guaranteed a possession no matter what, so you'll know after the other team's first possession if you need to go for every 4th down if they get a td, or can plan a 2 point conversion to win. Or of course if the other team doesn't score, you know a fg will win it as opposed to starting first and worrying if a fg will be enough. Curious to see how they play it.

I'm not sure - If you defer, you are only guaranteed the ball for one possession to score. If you take the kick, you are guaranteed two possessions or the win as long as you can start with a TD.

I like CMC too, but don’t see how Panthers fans could root for a 49ers win with so much draft position riding on it for us.

To this day, why did they trade to the 49ers instead of the Rams

a helluva lot of list draft position there

one draft pick difference doesn’t equal that since that 2 looks like a high 3 and so on

a very Panthers thing to do

I think Christian wanted to go to SF more. Nothing else makes sense.

    • It's amazing how much yall can say the same things over and over and not annoy yourselves with it.
    • If you only look at measurables, Mingo and Legette might seem similar.  But when you actually look at them and watch them play, they aren't close to the same.   And this is coming from someone who is skeptical about Legette, although ultimately I believe he will work out.  I've just always disagreed with the comparisons to Mingo.   Mingo tests better than he plays/runs, whereas Legette plays/runs as well as he tests.
    • As bad as things were with the Panthers last year, we still had 4 other games outside of the 2 we won that we came very close to winning.  Could throw the Falcons game in there too, it was tied going into the 4th. I'm not really sure what to expect this year.  I don't think we'll make the playoffs.  However, we play in a very weak division where no team has a standout QB.  On paper, our OL should be good, and could be great if Ikem improves.  That alone could help mask a lot of problems on offense.  Should allow us to run the ball better.  Even if Bryce doesn't improve, the OL should at the very least give him more time to make the easy throws underneath and let a guy like Legette work his magic after the catch. And I think this defense in a 2nd year with Evero should, at the very least, be in the top 16.  I'm expecting our run defense to be as good as it has been in years. I think this team could push for 7-8 wins.  But it could also finish with 2 wins again.  That is just how the league works.  Jets offense was miserable last year, and yet they still won 7 games.   We won't really get a good feel of it until after the preseason, and even then, who knows.
