Doesn’t matter QB is more important. Panthers aren’t staying at 9.

We'll see, Frank has Eason and Corral and whoever isn't in the top ten to choose from.

It sounds like there will be a run on QBs in the top ten. Are we desperate to move up. I don't see desperation in this coach.

If anything he spoke more about championship level defense and special teams.

Reich has yet to meet the QBs and hasn't worked them out for himself. Once that happens, and if it's positive.

Defense could happen.

Whatever we do, we can't continue with Darnold. The guy could only complete 5 passes in a freakin dome in a meaningless game. And he isn't a rookie, this was his 5th year. I'm done with those types of stat lines. We shouldn't settle for that.

Yeah only wackos and trolls think Reich took the job here to settle for another year of Darnold in any role.

Well here's some big news...

Kudos to Dave for taking ultimate responsibility for a bad hire.

Hate to keep beating up on Marty, but he should have realized after being a GM for two decades that Matt Rhule was a high risk gamble (coming from the college ranks) and not a good fit for a team with a new owner.

I'm really curious to what kind of defense they will run with our current personnel.

I think the new DC will have a lot of input in deciding the kind of defense they run. It could wind up being  both a 4-3 or 3-4, being used depending on the occasion at the time..

Reich wouldn’t confirm he plans to call plays in Carolina, but it sounds as if that's his preference.

“Obviously I've always enjoyed doing that, and felt like I’ve had a good bit of success doing that,” Reich said.

“When you have a head coach who has played the position, he knows what looking through that lens of a quarterback looks like,” Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer said. “He knows what processing looks like, how to call games through that eye. So there are a lot of advantages to having an offensive head coach."

Well one thing I do know is that while he thinks this defense is good, it is no where near good enough. He wants a top 5 defense. I'll sign up for that.

    • Is there any real statistical evidence of this beyond anecdotal things like washed vets signing with the Chiefs or Pats every once in a while?  it doesn't really hold up.  Everyone gets paid in FA.  Everyone gets paid on 2nd contracts.  Its just how it is.  Do you think Icky would make less in FA than he would with a Panther extension?  Is that what's being implied?
    • Fitts fuged up the Burns contract by not taking the trade. He lost his leverage at that point. That level offer was for a top 3 complete edge rusher which Burns never was. It should never have been a debate. Take the Rams offer if we weren't going to pay Burns that type of contract.  Icky should get paid. Where it will get interesting is when/if Bryce demands an extension after this year. If he follows the trend of 1st round QBs drafted and immediately starting for their team, and still with them, end of 3rd year is extension time. If Bryce demands his 45-50m per season and Morgan/Tepper pays it, I see Icky starting for someone else and us looking to the draft or FA market for a new LT.
    • Ickey has earned a good new contract obviously. We do need to draft a RT maybe in the 2026 draft.
