thats where the conversation starts to get to 1.  The niners gave up 3 to move to 3.   No way the bears go back 8 spots for only 2 firsts

Moving up to 1 would take a lot, but if they feel it has to be done to get the QB they want, then I’ll be good with it.

From what I’ve read, the unexpected retirement of Luck started the downward spiral of retread QBs for Reich in Indy and, as stated earlier, the Colts never seemed interested in developing a future franchise play caller.  Based on this and where the team was roster-wise, you could make an argument that Irsay and FO felt they were a veteran QB away from being contenders. They weren’t in a position to really draft one as a middle of the pack team, thus the carousel of Rivers, Wentz and Ryan. Unfortunately these weren’t long term solutions and two of the experiments went terribly wrong. Hoping things will be different this go-round.

If the guy we draft is the next Pat Mahomes or Joe Burrow, it would be worth it.  But of course, that's a big if.

I think I'd rather just trade up for 5 and get whatever is left between Stroud/Levis than have to pay everything it would take to get to 1.  Also I wonder if he can get Sam Darnold to look better than he did this year towards the end on a 1 year deal as we build out the roster to make a run in 2024 keeping all of our picks.

Fwiw, there are a couple the could have drafted, Jalen hurts and Lamar Jackson. Had they done so, Reich might still be a Colt. Of course, that is hindsight.  But sometimes it pays to take a chance on those lesser regarded QBs

Its going to be 3 firsts and 2 2nds... with the NFL trade rules ... compensation can really get any higher.
