One of the things that separated Reich from other candidates was the staff he told Fitterer and David Tepper he would assemble in Charlotte, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Reich could try to retain offensive line coach James Campen and special teams coordinator Chris Tabor after both position groups made big strides after their arrivals.

That's big news Imo!!!!!

I honestly think that move keeps Bozeman in Carolina, if true. The love for Campen amongst offensive lineman is real.

In regards to Tabor, our ST hasn't been this good about 7-8 years.  Since Ginn was back there. The coverage was impressive considering what we were used to around here.

IMO I’d like to see Duce Staley as OC he’s a coach that’s been around the NFL for a time. I think he’d be able to fill that role and be great at it. And he deserves the opportunity.

I’d like to see Kris Richard get a shot at DC or hire an experienced coach like Vic Fangio. Like I said these are just my opinions.

It's not hard to picture Bozeman back in September looking at his wife, asking her (and perhaps somewhat asking himself) "Baby, what the hell did I sign on to?"

Oh, how things change.

Mind you, if he does stick around we will owe at least partial gratitude to Steve Wilks.

Agreed. A coach like Reich seems a perfect situation for him to take the next step. Pairing Joe Brady with another NFL neophyte in Matt Rhule was a mistake.

This. My first thought was, he isn’t experienced enough. But Reich can help him along and even call plays for a while if needed.

Wait – I thought Elflein started the first game under Wilks and then got hurt. Bozeman came in after he got hurt. Is that wrong?

    • We've seen Bryce Young personally audible into some truly terrible plays even as recent as last year so this notion that he is significantly better at reading defenses doesn't exist within the realm of reality from my POV. He has not had a great deal of freedom within the structure of the offense for good reason. I would say he is average in football IQ. He isn't awful. But in no way shape or form was he or is he generational or top pick worthy in that aspect as he was billed predraft. Overall he is at best in the 22-25 range amongst all starting QB's and that is being generous.
    • I am not arguing over statistics. Darnold was in the pro bowl Bryce wasn't. I'm not sure we watching the same games because when I watch them actually play Bryce decision making is usually pretty good to me.  Even when he throws an int it's not a OMG wtf were you thinking pick. Darnold has those moments. And like I said we have seen Darnold here. If you plug him back in who is to say he doesn't look like Bryce or worse. Bryce limitations are tied to his physical ability to me. I think he sees it reads defense well but lacks the cannon to stretch the field or capitalize on what he sees. Add in a small frame and vision and he's limited... That doesn't take away from the fact I think I trust him more than Darnold reading defenses. Darnolds physical gifts have never been in question. He was the most talented QB of his class in terms of arm and ability.
